Turkey and the Kurds

Postby observer » Thu Oct 09, 2014 9:50 pm

It is quite easy to understand the Turkish caution on the Kurds.

Prior to the Gulf War of 1991 Kurds attacked Turkish soldiers and institutions.
After 1991, hundreds of thousands of Kurds sought sanctuary in Turkey from Sadam Hussein.

From 1991 until recently, Kurds attacked Turkish soldiers and institutions.
Now, hundreds of thousands of Kurds have sought sanctuary in Turkey from IS.

If/When IS is defeated, will Kurds start attacking Turkish soldiers and institutions again?
I don’t know, but I’d certainly be cautious about arming them.

Exactly!

Who is attacking who?

The Kurds are clearly the most refined people in the entire country of Turkey. God Bless them and keep them safe from the Turks and DAESH.

The poor Kurds have been in this region for Millenia, just like the Armenians, Assyrians, Pontians, Greeks and Cypriots.

We must have all done something very bad for God to punish us all in this manner and bringing the invading barbarian Turks to our region all the way from Asia.

Yes there were numerous Turkish Piss Operations which evicted the Hellenboys and gals from their homes, including the Armenians, Assyrians, Kurds and more recently, the Cypriots!

The way some people talk, you would think that Turkey is a racially segregated country, like South Africa under Apartheid. What a load of tosh. I have been in workplaces in Turkey where Kurds and Turks work together, I have lived in apartment blocks where Turks and Kurds are neighbours. By the tone of the this thread, you would think that all the Kurdish people must sit at one end of a canteen and all the Turkish people sit at the other end and glower at each other (I am not sure what the huge number of people who are of mixed Kurdish and Turkish heritage are supposed to do under this scenario). Nothing could be further from the truth. It is true that the PKK waged a separatist guerrilla campaign for many decades, and Turkish governments failed to see the need to recognise some kind of Kurdish autonomy. However, recent years have seen serious moves to solve the Kurdish problem in Turkey.
