What??? :o :o :o

What's the problem Pyro?

All proposals placed on the table have been disastrous thus far, and completely unworkable, unfair, and comprise elements such as the following plus a lot more:
1) Treaty of Guarantee,
2) skewed democratic rights afforded to communities and not the individual,
3) restrictions on freedom of movement, and
4) veto rights to a small minority etc etc

If this is the country you want to live in, then vote for it. If I was in your shoes, I would be looking to migrate to another country because I will not condemn my family to such inequality, unfairness, restrictions and to something I believe will blow up into some more violence in the future. The violence is inevitable.

But of course, this is what Turkey wants. Don't ever think Turkey cares for the TCs because it doesn't. It wants to destroy Cyprus because it will provide it with another opportunity to intervene on the island and take over permanently. Have you ever wondered why they want a demilitarized Cyprus and maintain the bogus Treaty of Guarantee? Turkey has its long term ambitions.

I see a very dark future ahead.

Of course, Akinci may prove us all wrong and actually be quite reasonable and demand more TC independence from Turkey, and seek a solution based on International norms. I won't hold my breath but it is possible and has never happened in over 40 years. We will know in a few months as things become clearer.

why dont you come out with it and say what you want. what you and the rest of the fanatics want is a unitary system with one man one vote so you can do as you wish.

i got news for you boy. if these talks fail the next ones will be on division. not even the un will suggest such a settlement because they know what kind of beast you are.

Oh and I am not against a FEDERAL solution.

The fact that the RoC has accepted FEDERATION as being the future basis of the solution, is a considerable compromise on our part. There can be 2 States, which are responsible for themselves but which also form the Federation of Cyprus. Federation should be the vehicle which allows all the international norms which one can find in other Federations like USA, Canada, Australia, Germany and many more.

Under such a solution, there is no need for any Guarantees, skewed democratic process, derogation of freedom of movement or the right to property, vetoes or anything else. Why not just copy the USA Constitution and be done with it and adopt a US style Federal System but scaled down?

They have arguably the best Constitution in the world and a Bill of Rights which I think is absolutely marvelous.

A scaled down version of USA or Australia will work really well and everyone will have the security they need and control their own affairs in their State as well as have proportional representation in the FEDERAL parliament and SENATE.

Another key aspect is the land and coastal distribution between the 2 States. The TCs need to be a little more realistic here and there are advantages for them if there was more fairness in this allocation. They too are free to live in the GC State if they so wish.

So if enough GCs decide to move north and take political control of it, it should be allowed right?

really accepting federation is a compromise on your part. ffs get a life.

Read my post again as it has been amended. If there was equity in the process, there wouldn't be much chance of that.

Further to this, the other State would be predominately governed by TCs so any GCs who decide to live with Turks will have to accept that. I doubt very much that many will decide to live there.

but if you want total freedom sooner or later what is there to stop gcs swamping the north and by votes taking political control and voting for a unitary state and finally achieving their aims since 1955. reducing the tcs to a minority stautus and then enosising with greece.

what will stop it. you doubting it happening is no assurance is it. we cant go bythe cow in the field depending on whether she is standing or lying down either.

this is two communities living on a small island and bbf with protection is the only solution. if you have no intention of attack then there is no problem. in 1974 it was different. you had all the tcs surrounded in enclaves and a fascist government that came to power by force. what were the tergs supposed to do wait to see if you start killing tcs before they intervened. the situation is different in the future. they will see your army massing on the border of the federal state and will take action accordingly.

you asking for the guarantee to me removed is just plain stupid. by all means you decide for yourself whether you need any guarantees or not but are you really deciding for the tcs too. are they not able to make such a decision.
