That's it in a nutshell! I don't often agree with you but this time you have managed to hit the nail on the head in very few words.

Who says they won't? Did you expect a Syria-wide attack in just half a day?

Daesh is also useful in that it attacks other opposition groups and Syrian regime forces rarely combat it. Curiously, it appears that the upper echelons of the Daesh leadership are stuffed full of former Iraqi Ba'athists. If Russia is there primarily to support Assad, it won't attack Daesh (although it will no doubt claim to be there to combat Daesh for propaganda purposes).

What a load of claptrap!

I see you are up to your usual scintillating level of intellectual debate.

You are saying they will, now? Oh, that's a relief because it seemed strange to find myself agreeing with you.

Russia’s operations have hardly begun and you expect them to cover the entire country in the first day? :?

Their priorities are clearly the opposition closest and most menacing to the Syrian government and that is Nusra, FSA, Al Qaeda, etc.

Have faith in the global leader and the world’s greatest firepower… 8)

Allah Akbar!

A permanent Russian land/sea/air base in the ME is PERFECT for the region and indeed Cyprus!

Cyprus’ bargaining power should increase while that of America’s henchmen in the region (Israel, Turkey, Saudis) should decrease with time.

In the future I expect traffic between Latakia and Cyprus to increase dramatically and increased tensions between Russia and Turkey both in the sea off Cyprus and on Turkey’s border.

NATO's regional strategy has thus far been to prop up criminal states like Israel, Turkey and the filthy Saudis while battering their victims including Cyprus, but Russia's permanent presence here is about to change all that!.

It’s out with criminal NATO's regional violations and corruptions and in with Russian Orthodox justice! :)

Nope, the Russian transport planes came via the Caspian sea and through Iraq and Iran.

Russia came with the Syrian government’s permission to fight anti-Syrian terrorists whatever they may be called.

I think many people tend to forget that the popular uprising in Syria against the Assad dictatorship started out in the form of dignified peaceful mass protests and the movement had a mainly secular nature. The initial protests began in January 2011 and snowballed until by April the regime could no longer contain it using merely police violence and mass arrests, and so the Assad regime deployed the army, turning a peaceful protest movement into a civil war. Ultimate responsibility for the outbreak of this civil war thus rests with Assad and his regime.
