I remember when a certain minister of defence conveniently placed his son at Διαβιβάσεις Διοικητηρίου ΓΕΕΦ for the duration of his entire service.

Meanwhile, I was living the life of a monk with three other seiraes in an outpost in 276 ΤΠ. :)

That's the purple circle for you.

Let's not pretend it doesn't happen.

And that is how you are ALL being ripped off blind. The CNG is just a microcosm.

Btw, I do not support this system at all.

Have a guess why the entire criminal Bush family have/are taking turns at the US presidential office!

And don’t forget the Clintons! Even the idiotic wife who couldn’t get a stain off her husband’s pants wants to have a shot at the presidency now!

So don't come here pretending that favouritism is unique to Cyprus!

They are nominations which need to be voted for by the people.

Look, there is a Purple Circle in most countries. It's just that the Purple Circle in Cyprus is quite large and virtually everything becomes harder when you're not in it. I mean 6 months to get a passport! Are you guys for real? In the Purple Circle it takes 2 weeks.

In the USA, you don't have to be in the Bush Purple Circle or any Purple Circle for that matter. That's because there are laws which are enforced and terrible watchdogs ready to pounce on you like a tonne of bricks.

In the USA, money gets you a Purple Circle of your own.

Favouritism is not unique to Cyprus. in Germany, the country everyone seems to admire nowadays, they call it Vitamin B. (B stands for Bekkanten, German for contact/person you know).

It exists anywhere.

But I can tell you that in the Australian Military everyone is made to spit their chips and blood. It wouldn't matter if you were the son of the Chief or the son of John Howard or Tony Abbott.

When you go through the gates, everyone is a friggin maggot and they won't let you forget it. It was the most terrifying experience in my life and felt like we were being processed at Auschwitz.

I presume the same applies in Germany, USA and other countries. In these countries, even the President and Prime Minister are issued speeding tickets or issued fines for not wearing a seat belt or talking on their mobile phone. Yes, a cop can issue the PM a ticket and there is NOTHING he can do about it and his job is safe. And it does happen.

If that happened to Pootin, the copper will be whacked let alone lose his job. In Cyprus, they would probably just lose their job.

And you're deluded for believing things like this don't occur in Cyprus.

Cyprus is a tiny island and lots of people have their little Purple Circle Koumbaro. It matters but it's not very very and it's fairly corrupt as.

The day a Cypriot President is fined by a cop or a Lresident is held accountable for negligence resulting in the death of Cypriots is the day you can talk.

You lag miles behind North America, Japan, South Korea, AUS, NZ, UK, Western and Northern Europe. You are miles behind!

Yes corruption exists in all countries but at least in some countries it is not an expectation and most people and persons in authority are scared to play silly buggers. I am sure people like Bush or a very wealthy Billionaire might try it but you better watch out because one day the chickens will come home to roost and they come home regularly even in the largest corporations, the biggest banks, on Wall Street, and at the highest levels of Government. No one has a Golden Parachute but sometimes money might help with the best lawyers which you will need to get out of the shit.

Here is another example.

At its peak Cyprus Airways had 12 aircraft and 1200 employees. That's a whopping 100 employees per aircraft 8 of which were A320 which can carry 180 passengers. That's a bit more than one employee per 2 passengers presuming load factor runs at 100% which it never does. It is more like 65%, meaning one employee per one passenger on each airframe.

Now we all know who is responsible for these unsustainable numbers. The Government was because that is where the provided jobs for the boys in the Purple Circle.

Lufthansa and Air France audited the airline and came up with recommendations on how to turn the airline around. Only 1 was executed and the rest were ignored.

When Cyprus Airways was in trouble with the EU anti competitive rules because it received State funding, there were another 3 airlines also in the same boat. Cyprus Airways had 30 days to respond. It didn't, because it wasn't allowed. The other 3 State carriers did and got off with some minor fines. Cyprus Airways was fined millions. Even so, if the airline was restructured in accordance with the recommendations of contracted consultants, the airline would be profitable today. Maybe just 2 to 3 million but it would be a start and it could begin to pay the fines and money's owed to the Cyprus Government.

The Government didn't want that. Why? Well, many people believe that there are a few in the Government who have substantial share ownership in Aegean. Another big share holder is the Church.

Which airline took the lion share of the Cyprus Airways routes to Athens and London which are actually quite lucrative and profitable? Aegean did.

Then there is the issue of the cross lease of the A330 (which it didn't need) which Cyprus Airays leased from a Cypriot company in Ireland who leased the aircraft from elsewhere. Cyprus Airways was paying 600,000 euros per month more than the going rate and guess who got the 600,000 euros each month? I'm not mentioning names because it is unknown at this point but there are big suspicions worthy of an investigation which won't be forthcoming. The reason is obvious.

Anyway, the whole saga was an Aegean Coup/takeover. You get the picture.

Anyway, the point is that you have all been taken for a ride and those responsible believe you are all fools. It's your money they are playing with and getting rich from.

Anywhere else and there would be an inquiry into this whole debacle. Many things don't add up. The airline belonged to the people and the people invested a lot of their tax into it. But the people got it all wrong and we're happy to see their asset gifted to another company so a few can profit. Those routes are worth millions on the open market. Slots into Heathrow are worth millions. One slot alone at peak times was worth 30 million Euros.

Make no mistake. The airline just needed a restructure. The airline could run efficiently with 250 employees and 6 aircraft.

Bullshit!.
Cyprus is less corrupt than others mediterranean countries like Italy, Greece or Spain. Yes we're not Australia or New Zealand but more better than eastern europe and mediterranean countries.
