EOKA, Enosis and Cyprus Now.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby kythrea » Mon Jan 02, 2006 5:34 am

Hi Zan . Happy new Year.

I didn't say anything about a perfect system - in fact I said the opposite. With respect, it seems to me that you are the one demanding a perfect system and this is your prerequisite for a re-unified Cyprus. this is an impossible demand. is there any country in the world where there are no miscarriages of justice, discrimination etc ? please tell me and I will move there. The best we can do is put in place certain safeguards .

As you know, TCs have already successfully resorted to EU institutions to uphold their rights (ie Ahmet Djavit An) and there is no reason why they should not continue to do so. Do you think that in a separate TC state there would be no conflict, discrimination etc? Even if TCs were in the majority, this would not prevent discrimination on the basis of things like sex, political beliefs etc as happens in many countries around the world.

The riots in France in my view are not a good analogy btw. There we are talking about relatively new migrant groups who for whatever reason have not (yet) become integrated into French society. TCs have a long history in Cyprus and (at least until 1974) were highly integrated members of Cypriot society.

Zhto. Greetings. I imagine it would be fairly difficult to fight the British from your base in London. Whether you are in full-time employment or not, the tax man allocates just under £10 a week of your tax contributions directly to the Ministry of Defence.Like it or not, you, and every other resident of the UK are in fact funding British military/political violence. Not only that, with the new raft of carefully crafted laws designed to give the UK government complete political control of it`s residents (terrorism bill/act) posting adverts for a new EOKA on a world-wide web is not really a sound move. There are plenty of people in jail without charge. In order to become the dictatorships we see today, Bliar and Bush have had to manufacture an aura of hysteria to push these pathetic laws through. What I am trying to say here is this: Whilst I admire your motivation-leave the EOKA alone.By all means, start your own pressure group or whatever turns you on-just think before you type dude.

And a Happy and prosperous new year to you and all as well my friend.

My prerequisite for reunification to work is not so much a perfect society in which every one gets what they want, but conditions in which the feuding has long been forgotten and blame can be put on the individual rather than a race.

to kythrea,
let me start with your claim about the protection of human rights and I think that you talk about this human rights on behalf of GCs. So tell me about the basic human rights of TCs who were killed, raped, kidnapped tortutered then killed. so what about their human rights, their natural rigths which is right to live and even right to live free without threatened and fearless... so you talk in a very lattitude style about to reacquire the loss properties and do not talk about to give those of TCs lifes back who were killed even killed babies.. where is their human rights and where is their lives... the current division has been brought about by GCs not by TCs. the history showed that GCs did not want to live in peace, otherwise they did not destroy a republic in order to take its control then they did not kill the other ethnical entity...so you caused this current division and we have to maintain it so as to maintain our basic human rights which is right to live.
