AKP POWER STRUGGLE

Postby supporttheunderdog » Thu May 05, 2016 6:47 am

There are numerous reports indicating Davutoglu will step down as PM following some sort of power struggle with Erdogan.

See http://www.wsj.com/articles/turkish-prime-minister-to-step-aside-in-feud-with-erdogan-1462391014 as but one example.

Pity It is not Erdogan who is going. Now does Davutoglu have the the both the sway and the balls to take him in on, once out of office?

Yes, Erdoğan is consolidating his dictatorship and there is talk of his son-in-law being made prime-minister.

Davutoğlu has made a speech in which he concedes that he is finished as prime-minister.

For those able to read it, the final paragraphs of the statement quoted in the article below made by Bülent Arınç, who was once deputy prime-minister in Erdoğan's prime-ministerial days and who used to be close to the latter, makes interesting reading. I don't think he has been quite so outspoken before about the way Erdoğan and the ever-narrowing clique around him have become drunk with power:
