it was in the late 80s when the gc leadership refused to sit in the same room to negotiated. i will find you the exact date and the date they met with the russian ambassador and change their minds from first accepting it and then refusing it.

if you want to see akinci hold a cypriot flag, he can do something better.

here he is sitting at buyuk han at a table with gcs and tcs gathering for coffee. he can do no more to show his intentions.

it seems you are not after a leader, you are after a flag. a piece of cloth.
a leader is a person who is able to walk amongst his people without security and talk with them. you seem to think standing near a piece of cloth is much more important that a leader like akinci who is able to do what he does. you are not after a leader, you are after symbolism.

...a leader is a leader. The fact that Akinci can walk among the people does not make him leader, actions do.

and what standing next to a flag makes him a leader, i think not. the fact that he walks about talking to ordinary people makes him a leader who is in touch with the people. if only a few more leaders did this the world would be a better place. btw this was not just a few tcs, this is a mixed gc/tc group he sat next to.
