Erdogan waiting for Trump's phone call...

Postby Kikapu » Sat Feb 04, 2017 12:14 am

It has been almost 2 weeks since Trump became the President and yet he has not called Erdogan.

So far Trump has called or met every Tom, Dick and May, but not Erdogan!

Erdogan thought he would have been invited to the White House already to do a sleepover in the Lincoln bedroom.

Erdogan is now getting worried that he has no worth to Trump whatsoever and that he should know his place in the world of Superpowers as to who the main players are and not those who like to kiss asses.

Perhaps Erdogan should not have given any conditions to Trump as to what he needed to do to improve relations between the USA and Turkey.

Erdoğan called Trump shortly after his victory, and they were reported to have had warm discussions.

Who says the US has freedom of press?

Most American news networks are just propaganda mouthpieces for the highest bidder which is usually the US government. Where have you been?

Other than a abused press, Turkey and the US have LOTS of things in common including invasions/occupations, constant violations of international law, torture of prisoners, illegal detainments, expansionistic megalomanic aspirations, and so forth.

Plenty in common... but you need to have a functioning brain to put one and one together.

Yes they probably have the most free and pluralist media on the planet. There is no country like America when it comes to media and information. Even alternative news sources like BuzzFeed, Facebook and Twitter are American.

Curious to see Merkel taking an uncharacteristically strong line with Erdoğan while in Ankara the day before yesterday and even taking the unprecedented move of meeting the leader of the opposition, Kılıçdaroğlu. Does this signal a cooling by the West towards Erdoğan, or the opening of a breach between the US and Europe?

Of course, with Trump playing the islamophobic card for all it is worth for the benefit of the bigots within his support base, he is unlikely to make any displays of warmth towards Erdoğan for the time being.

Both Russia and Iran just got a good reality check and are now well aware where they stand.

What the repercussions will be for Turkey remain unclear at this point.
