Anyone suffered from sleep apnea?! It's similar to sleep paralysis but you actually stop breathing...you're totally aware of it but you cannot inhale no matter how desperately you try! :bawling:

Yes ..... I have always snored but my wife got frightened because I actually 'forget'(stop) breathing. Whist some on here would be pleased if that condition was permanent, I eventually was dragged to the hospital. They sent me to a 'Sleep Centre' in Limassol who did some tests. The results I took back to Limassol General and the doctor prescribed a CPAP machine. I have used this now for maybe 12 months and it definitely helps for a better nights sleep ...... but it does take some getting used to!

If you do nothing ..... it leads to high blood pressure, low blood oxygen as well as a lack of sound, uninterrupted sleep and it can actually kill you!

I had an uncle like that, who according to my aunt would stop breathing for more than a minute per time.
I doubt he was aware of anything though, as he was an alcoholic, always going to bed almost senseless, after consuming his standard bottle of VO31 or zivania or whatever...
Perhaps his apnea was from heavy booze or totally messed up brain I don't know...

:o

Now I wonder if it happens regularly and I only notice when it coincides with sleep paralysis. It's an awful thing to experience either way.

Typical Cypriot...

...I mean a special breed of Cypriot....ahem ahem....

I rarely drink so it can't be that with me, though I used to smoke ganja, which may well have been the culprit! :?
