You bragged just a couple of hours ago in this very thread. I mentioned nothing about finances.

Yes you are a retired pensioner. Well done, because you are also a gazillion years old with one foot in the coffin.

Nothing wrong with buying nice clothes. So how wealthy are you then?

Anyway, I have other expensive tastes. My vices are expensive fast cars.

As to my wealth, I have a lot of property and land. Rental Homes and Commercials and I have weekly and monthly rents come through. I can retire if I want to. I have a lot of residual income and am easily able to go here or there, and even if I am jobless I still have income.

My family has been in Australia since the 1950s, and as a family, we have really progressed through a lot of hard work and a little luck and good fortune too. We have had some misfortune too, but overall we have all had a good run.

But the biggest thing we have is our health and a happy family. It's not good to gloat. You got to learn a bit about grace.

BTW, its the last time I will donate to your stupid causes so that you can grandstand.

Sp you are the one thats filthy rich !!
Fast cars too! Oh boy you are a dreamer!!
Have you got a ....boat ?? Or is it a dingy!!

No, I am not rich. Not at all. I would never say I am rich. But I am not complaining either.

And yes, I can buy the Italian car I want. It's just a decision you know. And we are not going to be living forever. I also know a couple of owners too, and they are not what I would call rich either.

Some people say it is obscene to spend that kind of money on a car. It depends really. Do you really want the car is the question you should ask yourself. If the answer is YES, then make it happen. The car can always be sold and in some cases and it can even appreciate after that model ceases production.

I've bought lots of things that are a bit out there. I bought a house in Greece is one of the more outlandish ones, aside from the Italian Car (model will not be mentioned) I have my eyes on. :D

I really haven't decided yet. But out of me and you, I am the more likely to do it one day. It is a lot of money, that is true and of course, I will feel it but I can also do it if I decide to. OK?

I have driven one and I am addicted.

I also almost bought a Beachcraft Mooney one time. That would have been another outrageous purchase. But I would have been like a pig in shit!

Beleive it or not i also advised Paphitis (in another topic) not to do it, based on my own experience with the Americans.
From what I know they dislike everyone who likes to show up as being clever or superior.
You will more often hear an American REAL genius blaming himself for being wrong or dumb, or missing the obvious, or screwing things up, rather than boasting for his excellency. Imo Paphitis will have a hard time adjusting in the US.

On the other hand LR warned me that I might be over-stereotyping and I agreed with him.

Who knows, there's a possibility Paphitis will adjust fine in the US. The truth is in general the British don't, they feel strangers, and there are very few British in the US compared to their numbers almost everywhere else in the world....

I do not portray as being cleverer than other people. In fact, I am very easy going. People who know me say I am a kind person.

Americans are actually a very broad people. You can't pigeon hole them because they are a melting pot and ethnically so diverse. Generally speaking, Americans are very polite and they love Australians in particular more than they like Brits. I think Australians like Americans more than Brits too.

That is probably because Brits are not as easy going as we are.

There are dozens of Australians, Brits, Canadians, Kiwis, and South Africans working for this company. And for the money they are offering, they expect some form of cleverness because that is what they are paying for. They also expect some confident individuals and some professionalism. They are no mugs. In fact it is one of the largest companies in the world. The only way you can go wrong is if you wash out from their Line Training, and that isn't very likely.

This US Company will also recruit Cypriot Pilots if it could, They don't care if you are Cypriot, Turk, Australian or Brit. They will even train Cypriot Pilots to attain the FAA Licence. In fact, they actually put everyone through a 4 week Ground School just to obtain the FAA ATPL.

It has nothing to do with pride at all. They want to make money. And if they don't get Pilots they will lose a lot of money.

General, you have to eat a great deal of kangaroo kebab before you get to where I got and then I came back !! There is much more to life than overpriced cloths, Asian made mostly, and flashy cars. Money is by no means the main ingredient of happiness, admittedly it contributes somewhat, but to discover true happines you must first reach my age and live on Paradise Island. Im truly the happiest I have ever been so much so that I have ...extended my lifespan to 97 !!!!

I have but one ambition left. For you to buy me a drink, might have to extend my lifespan by a decade or so !!!

As for General doubting that Im on Paraduse Island, I understand his reservations since he found out the last time he was here that the Cypriots dont take much shit from little boys trying to look big.
Cyprus to me IS Paradise the most beautiful island with the most gorgeous......Russian women, the best bloody souvla, zivania that reaches the parts in a way that no other beverage does.

Congratulations! I am happy for you.

But I like a different P{aradise. Cyprus is nice, very nice, but it isn't for me.

The other thing about Americans is that they actually value education.

They have some of the best universities in the world and Americans spend so much to get their kids into the best university or college they can.

the other stereotype about Americans being loud and arrogant. It isn't true. Their accents can be a little whiney but they are very down to earth. More down to earth than Aussies in my opinion.

In Sydney, no one will look at you or smile at you. In New York, if you say hello to an American, you can't get them to shut up.

Not that this has anything at all to do with the Skripals but ...........

This purely my observation of you over the years, not a criticism!

Paphitis:
I do not portray as being cleverer than other people. In fact, I am very easy going. People who know me say I am a kind person.

I can assure you that you exude over confidence and have a tendency to skim over facts rather than read them. Whether you are kind or not, I can’t comment, because I judge people as I find them and the only YOU I see is the one on here. I might even like you if we actually met and visa versa.

The other thing the Americans are looking for in their recruits, is confidence. they don't want pilots who are unsure of themselves. In fact I don't think anyone wants such pilots.

They like QUIET confidence not someone who boasts, especially when the boasts are ill-informed and loudly declared without any applied logic.

Americans are actually a very broad people. You can't pigeon hole them because they are a melting pot and ethnically so diverse. Generally speaking, Americans are very polite and they love Australians in particular more than they like Brits. I think Australians like Americans more than Brits too.

Generally true but, like any race, there are many shades. Americans love everybody but it is rather stereotyping other nationals the way you present them. You are introducing something that is just your opinion.

That is probably because Brits are not as easy going as we are.

The British are more reserved than Americans and certainly more reserved than Australians. Americans take to that, certainly in the environment I was in where you come into contact with clients senior management and engineers.

No they don’t want clever people! They want people that are capable of doing what the company needs them to do, efficiently and with the minimum of supervision. Not overconfident smart asses that think they know better than everyone else and you are drifting in that direction already ......... look at your last sentence above.

A sort of introduction and transition course so that you comply with their procedures and protocols and they will keep very close eyes on you to see how you cope. They will assume that you already know how to fly an aeroplane ........ they will be assessing you as a person as much as anything else ....... get over confident and make silly mistakes and they will see it.
It has nothing to do with pride at all. They want to make money. And if they don't get Pilots they will lose a lot of money.

But if they get the wrong pilots in the RH seat they will lose a lot of money in the long run because they will end up with conflict on the flight deck and that is when mistakes are made. You will need to perform as an equal partner, as part of the team ..... not the ‘gobby Aussie’ who can't be relied on and thinks he knows better than anyone else.

Simply my opinion on the Paphitis that I interact with on this forum.
