Hello nhowarth,
Just like to thank you for taking the time to put the web site addresses up, they have been very helpful to me as I am in 2 minds to bring my car over or not. I will be living in Paphos permently end of March so I need to start making my mind up soon. One thing I have been told by a Friend who was born in Cyprus was, If I am to buy a car then I should look in Limassol as it is cheaper there for cars, do you agree?

Hi Little Sugar,

You're welcome.

I wouldn't like to comment on car prices in Paphos vs car prices in Limassol, let's just say that it's worthwhile looking around to see where the best deals are.

What sort of car would you be looking for?

Regards,

Well, the car I have here is a Peugeot 307cc, but I would not think its the sort of car that would suit me over there as I would like to go fishing and stuff, so I maybe think, on the lines of a small jeep!

A car to go fishing in - I think a boat would be safer :)

But seriously, I guess you'd be looking at something like a Toyota RAV4, one of the smaller Mitsubishis, or a Honda CRV type. There are main dealers in Limassol.

I suggest you have an enclosed vehicle with airconditioning - driving around in the summer in an open vehicle will be very dusty and very hot.

Afternoon nhowarth,

In your wisdom do you think it would be better to buy new? I suspect knowone gets rid of such cars over there unless they are worn out!
I do love my 307, but it would really be unpracticle for Cyprus conditions. fishing or not!!!
If I were looking at a new one, how dose the price compare to here ?

Hi LS,

Car prices here are more expensive than the UK, but they have come down quite a bit since Cyprus joined the EU last year.

I don't have car prices, but there's an article at: http://www.cyprus-mail.com/news/main.ph ... &archive=1 that will give you some figures for comparison purposes.

Morning nhowarth.

Can you beleive that it was not raining this morning here in Herts England, so today could be a good day!.
Thank you once again for coming through with a helpful website, I hope you do not feel that I'm beconing cheeky but, when I come out in March I will need my computer to be set up ect and was wondering if you could advise me on any contacts that you know that do this, and what sort of hourly rate would I be exspected to pay.
By the way, have you lived in Cyprus long?

Regards
LS

I'm surprised that it's (apparently) so difficult and expensive to get a car across to Cyprus from the EU. The last few weeks I've seen cars with Greek number plates, one with an Italian plate, and two large Motorhomes with German number plates. I wonder how they got these vehicles across; maybe shipped across? If so, is there much in the way of companies that specialise in doing this, and how much might it typically cost?
