Happy to send you a picture of my house but in a PM only.

I would rather it not be on an open forum.

I have spent over 800,000 in renovations to it as well.

I installed the kitchens, added 2 bedrooms, a cinema, and open area as well as a pool. Plus renovated the 2 bathrooms and added an extra.

I bought in in 2001 for 536,000 AUD.

So it owes me a lot of money...

Yeh well I have granite bench tops alright.

I don't understand what the big deal is. A lot of people have them. My sister in law has granite bench tops. my Father in law installed granite 3 or 4 years ago.

Everyone I know has granite these days.

Even my fence is Italian Stone masonry with all the latest electronic surveillance gadgetry and security.

This is what Australian kitchens look like...

You are forgetting one thing. In Australia, we have a huge Italian community. We have all the marble and granite we can possibly need.

No, pretty fucking expensive ones.

Nothing synthetic about it. Plus, Australia has some of the best granite quarries in the world.

You can get anything you like and in accordance with your budget.

And usually, Australian materials are far better quality than anything available in Cyprus because disposable incomes are far greater in Australia too and we have granite. More granite than Cyprus does and we probably export it to cyprus too. I know it is exported to the States and EU.

There’s pretend granite (a mix made to look like granite) and then there’s the real thing cut from a rock.

The difference is like $150 p/m^2 versus $1,500 p/m^2.

No its not!

Any granite you have we can get in Australia. There is nothing fake about it.

Even with flooring they are installing polished jarra floor boards which is bloody costly.

I paid a lot more than 150 per sq meter. My bench-tops set me back something like 40,000 for 2 kitchens and a bar. That's 30,000 Euros.

Flooring alone was more than $150 per sq meter.

BTW, here is some information about Australian Granites which are considered to be of the finest quality and of the kind that fetch over $1500 per sq meter.

BTW mate, when you drive around in Sydney, you will encounter things like Ferrari and Lamborghini. There are hundreds of them and you will see them.

Things like Mercedes and BMW are almost standard. they are not as impressive as they once were 20 years ago as just about every Soccer mum has one of those. The Adventurists, like me, don't have a Mercedes or BMW. I drive a Ford Wildtrack Diblokambino. Australia is a big country, so big American cars are great and 4WDs are great fun.

If you want to impress with your wheels in Australia, then you need to go all out and buy a Ferrari or Hummer. Aussies scoff at Mercedes and BMW these days but the perennial 4WD still has its place in the Aussie Psyche far more than a Mercedes. in other words, Aussies would rather go for the Diblokambino like the Paphites in Cyprus and the Canadians and Amerikani. Great minds think alike.

Now, granite is one thing. But in Australia, there are people installing Versace Tiles. This are imported Italian Tiles. Just one tile is worth hundreds. Flooring Tiles made by Versace can be over $1500 per sq meter. I know one person who has installed Versace. Aussies generally go for wooden flooring such as Jarra or Blackbutt which is expensive in itself but not like Versace. I have Jarra flooring which looks better than Versace in my opinion, and I have seen Versace in my friends house. He owns a chain of gyms so he is doing well for himself and can afford Versace.

You can get anything you want in Australia mate. And in Sydney it is almost impossible to over capitalize the way things have gone. The houses and architecture are amazing. probably the best in the world and it draws on influences from old Britain, and also Germany. The Queenslander is however very Australian and you won't see that except on a Dynasty movie set anywhere else but in Queensland they are a dime a dozen.

If your house was in Bondi, it will attract complaints as an eye sore. They will NEVER allow houses like you see in Cyprus be built in Sydney's upper crust areas. Aussies will take to your house with a dozer and wrecking ball. Aussies can be the most precious primadonnas these days. Sydney is very Yuppy, arty farty place and pretentious now (in fact I don't like it because its quite snobby too). If you stuff around with their street-scape, they take it personally and they will write to council and Australian councils are already tough to deal with as it is because they enforce planning laws.

Even the Greeks in Sydney have become strange. That is what happens to Greek villagers which came to Australia without being able to rub 2 coins together, and now they drive around in 100,000 Mercedes Benz, have a couple of properties they bought 40 years ago and now behave like they own the world. Money does that I'm afraid. Greeks are notorious for being dick heads too because they forget where they come from and they forget that they are just a bunch of very lucky illiterates that were made by pure luck. O Golos o Titsiros ide ti vraka tsie eshetstike.

Now as far as I am concerned, writing to a council to dob on someone is just un-Australian, but Australia has changed.
