I was looking at buying a few Next shares in early 90s but they were suspended at 6 pence so I invested elsewhere. A few months later the suspension was lifted, today they are £54 each.

Not as good as I expected but Tomtom closed up at 7.90 euros up on the day 36 cents, 4.8%. It touched 8.11 at one stage but I think profit taking drove it down .
I first tipped Tomtom on wednesday when it was 7.22, the day I bought.

Do you realize that the price trend for this stock is down for the year?

This stock has also been practically flat for the past 10 years.

I would not invest in this pile of shit.

If you want to scalp a few cents out of the market, that's trading, not investing but there are better, more liquid stocks to trade.

for short term trading, I think currencies are the best.

Trading stocks, FX and CFD's is risky. Most people lose money.

It takes a lot of study and many many years of experience to get an edge in the markets. Then even still, there is no guarantee that you will consistently make money.

I first commented on Tomtom on wednesday 31st October, the shares closing at 7.22 euros. Had I sold yesterday, 2 days later I would have made .....a pile of shit, what you probably made.
A cool 7000 euros.

At my age I have no interest in long term investments, I speculate short term, concentrading on ....piles of shit that make money.
Boy, you know fuck all about trading, in 30 or so years you may grasp the fundamentals.
In the meantime, Monday could be a big day for Tomtom ....pile of shit. Microsoft, google, Apple are sharpening their knives.

Congratulations with your gain!

Rallies exist in bearish markets but it is good practice to trade with the trend. The trend is your friend.

I have 15 years trading experience.

You will go broke very fast if your risk to reward and trade expectancy don't stack up.

In which case you may find this of interest.

The market capitalisation stands at 1.75 billion euros, its true value around 4.6 billion, which means that should a bid be made it would be at least twice the MC.

That is great Milti. Should a bid be made.

Let me help you with this, because there are many people in this industry who would gladly leave you in the dark

When everyone else wants to buy, you should be looking to sell. When everyone else is looking to sell, you should be looking to buy.

Whenever news like this gets broadcast in the public domain, it serves as a form of advertising for the stock. What this advertising does is inform the public (main street or dumb money) to get in on the stock for reasons A, B and C. This creates liquidity, for the "smart money" to unwind their positions and take their profit as they have already accumulated at lower prices. In the trading community, we call this a pump and dump. They pump the stock up (manipulation) and then they dump it on the unsuspecting "dumb" money when the volumes come in.

From the way you have been talking, and I assume you are a novice at this, I would be more inclined to take the other side of your trade. The best traders are the newbie traders, if only they inverted their positions.

I am discounting the element of luck here. Anyone can get lucky trading stocks but you cant be consistently profitable in this business with luck.

So Tom Tom are looking to sell a part of their business, Which means less future cash flow if it is a cash flow generating part. why should this make the stock price double?

They have stiff competition from Google maps. Which is free and everyone has a smart phone. Their prospects for future growth don't look that promising. Perhaps that is why they are selling a part of their business because you wouldn't if it was doing that well. The sat nav device industry has been in decline.

I see a negative outlook or uncertainty for Tom Tom.

Why should the business fundamentals matter to you if you are trading short term and not investing?

The trend for the year is down and the price has been practically flat for a decade. Its lame......
