Weather

Postby Seaton 2 » Thu Jan 17, 2019 7:08 pm

We are flying out next month to view a few properties.

One question , what weather can we expect? I must put that in context, we have never visited the island in February and not quite sure what to expect.

It'll certainly be milder than our NE England home that we're acclimatised to, but will it be like a cool UK summer ? jeans and T shirt ? presumably not shorts !

The main reason for asking is we're traveling light.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome! Definitely a lot warmer than Scotland.

February high/low averages in Limassol 17/9 C; Nicosia 18/5 C.

Don’t kid yourself… its pretty cold and wet here in winter and this is a particularly rainy year.

The days are currently short; goes dark by 4-5pm, and there’s very little sun to enjoy on a good day.

We're talking jumpers, jackets and umbrellas.

Apparently this winter is one of the wettest and somehow coldest Cyprus has had for a few years. Good news it now appears to be over. Visit accuweather.com for February's forecast. It looks fine compared with the UK weather.

Weather forecast so many days in advance is a scam. I can also tell you how the weather will be in February just based on the averages of February and I will be as accurate as accuweather.

Tuesday apparently saw the biggest fall of rain during a 24hr period here for 30 years. Given that most of it arrived in a night storm............. The “good” news being it took the dams from about 30 to 40% overnight (AFAIK currently 46%).

If you are interested in properties in Cyprus, you may like to look at the following:

This is a private sale by myself, the long-term owner.

You say you’ve been before so will appreciate that Feb tends to be the bleakest month of the year here.

The Water Board have just announced that - still with 12 days to go - this month has set a record for the amount of rainfall.
