After surviving the 1970s disco scene (and partying) I don’t intend to be taken out by something named after a light beer. 8)

ok, there was a demonstration on Saturday, where police were injured; that's news.

...can anyone tell me what happened Friday, because that was newsworthy on Thursday (something, when i read about it; who showed up for that one)?

The statistics would be unrealiable.

For instance, there would be those that have Coronavirus and are unaware, haven't seen a doctor or received medical attention.

There are only 2 known cases in Cyprus. there are likely to be more and that applies to all statistics for every country.

Countries with strict testing dogmas and strict immigration and quarantine laws will obviously be more successful at detecting the disease.

For instance, Australia just banned the entry into Australia of most Chinese Uni students and those who came before the measures were put in place were quarantined on Christmas island in detention centres under strict isolation.

From my experience, Australia, Canada and USA have the strictest immigration and quarantine laws, and I believe they will detect more cases.

30,000 Chinese uni studies were not allowed through the border and some 1000 Chinese are quarantined in what is effectively a prison. China has been on Australia's back about it but I think Australia is just now looking to twist the knife a little because their industry is effectively shut down so not much trade anyway so Australia is just taking an opportunity to stick it to them for the spy-gate scandal and the murder of an Australian MP.

Well... what do you find more reliable? Wishful thinking? Paphiti jabber?

Just for the record: Cyprus has climbed up to #36 and who else has the same amount of contaminations per capita? Australia!

I am saying the problem of Coronaviris is a lot more serious than the statistics portray because in my opinion there are thousands more infected without knowing, and some countries are covering up the true statistics. No one ever expected Australia to be immune from it. I never expected it either. Australia has very high trade and traffic from the most affected countries.

I know we have statistics in Australia. We have had 4 deaths in Australia as well. There was a case found in a school as well, and that school has been closed with all children and teachers now in medical quarantine for 2 weeks. The Federal Government has just announced 2.4 Billion (Emergency Spending) to all our hospitals to open quarantine and infectious disease wards where all the rooms are air locked and patients are in cubicles for crying out loud.

Australia has also announced yesterday that it has closed its borders to any travelers from China, Iran, Korea, and Italy. All flights and shipping from those countries are also cancelled. Even if you have traveled from another country but have been to any of the affected countries, you won't be able to get into Australia.

Anyone who has been to those countries and tries to enter Australia will be turned back. Any Australian citizens from those countries go into 14 days of quarantine. Now that can be as severe as getting transferred to Christmas Island.

It's definitely one of the more draconian if not totalitarian approaches in the world. Basically, Australia has banned anything from Italy. the significance of this is that Italy is an EU country and if Italy or the EU can't contain it, they will do the same to every EU country including Cyprus.

So whilst we do have statistics, Australia seems to be very pro-active at the present time, even maybe over-reacting by putting in very tough measures to contain the spread or avoid the problem getting any worse. This makes me feel confident about our Federal Government knowing they are doing whatever they can and more. If it proves to be an over-reaction then that's a bonus for us and the world. But if it's not, they are doing the best they can to avoid big problems later on since we are approaching winter.

The line ups at our International Airports are massive as customs sift through passports. They are now asking every passenger if they have traveled to certain countries withing the last month and if you say yes, they put you on the next flight back home at your cost.

Trump just suspended all travel between Europe and USA.

Well looks like it’s going from bad to worse.

Australia atm only suspended Italy, Iran, Korea and China.

Europe could be next.

Ok haven’t been watching the news lately but some of the biggest companies and corporates have just sent all their staff home from Brisbane CBD. Don’t know if it is all corporates. Corona cases have been detected in offices, and night clubs.

Staff are being told to stay home and work from there.

Tom Hanks is in the Gold Coast and has been infected along with his wife.

This shit is starting to get real.
