We are probably all victims of our own confirmation bias, so I wonder if there is any point in posting this.

Anyhow, seek and ye shall find. There are views out there that contrast with the position on the epidemic being pushed out non-stop by the established media. Here is one-hour radio interview with Raymond Peat, Ph.D., who is editor and researcher of a popular and well-known monthly newsletter on nutrition and health, as well as author of a number of cutting-edge publications that look at aging, nutrition, and hormones from a biochemical perspective. Dr. Peat has a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Oregon, with specialization in physiology. He has taught at the University of Oregon, Urbana College, Montana State University, National College of Naturopathic Medicine, Universidad Veracruzana, the Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico, and Blake College.

Clearly we have all made up our minds and are not going to get anywhere. All I can say is that I am less confident that there will be the kind of fairy tale ending you describe and we will all go back to life as we knew it. The degree of coordination behind everything - the way the media globally is now devoting its entire effort to stoking up panic about the epidemic, the way doctors and officials everywhere are being encouraged and coerced into recording as many deaths as possible as Covid deaths - convinces me there is a clear political and/or economic agenda behind the perception that is being manufactured over a virus the like of which does the rounds from time to time. There are various plausible hypotheses as to what the agenda may be, and I am unsure if it exists and what it is, although I don't think it is going to be to the benefit of the majority of people. Many fundamental civil liberties and rights have been usurped in an instant, and I am not sure if we will get them all back. What's more, the bulk of the population, alarmed by the blanket alarmist news reporting, is applauding and calling for more. I already have to beg for the permission of "Big Brother" to go out once a day, and have to enter a code giving the reason. My gut feeling is this is just the beginning of a new surveillance regime that is being rolled out and it will get worse not better - probably all predicated as being Big Brother protecting you from the bogeyman of the virus the media is instilling such great fear over. I desperately hope I am wrong and that the fairytale ending is coming.

It is all a matter of relative degrees for me Max. ;) One persons BS opinion is not necessarily as useless (to me) as another's. (cough paphitis cough). I welcome you opinions to be honest and certainly comparatively so.

Overall I am pretty much where you are (with the nothing is certain caveat). I am probably a bit more optimistic that the RoC still might yet shut the virus down entirely. You are doing alot of testing and good targeted testing as far as I can tell. WIth tracking and tracing and ongoing increased testing I think there is still a chance of shutting it down even though there are still cases coming in positive. Its that R number thing. Keep it under 1 and the virus will get shut down. Over where I am they are talking about multiple days since a positive test now (11 days without positive was last number I saw) but 'data' is hard for me to find given I do not speak the native language and there is always the 'trust' issue as well in terms of what authorities say.

One recent change I do welcome is Trump 'steeping back' from his daily press conferences and Paphitis seemingly stepping back from his here.

Speak for yourself Tim. Clearly you have made up your mind. I have spent the entire time trying to make clear that i have NOT made up my mind, but you have made up your mind on THAT as well it seems to me.

Dr Ray Peat says he has not seen anything yet in terms of mortality that indicates anything out of the normal is happening. I say go look at ONS figures. He says that CDC figures for 2017-18 for flu deaths was originally 80k then revised down to 60k and says 'its interesting because it shows how wildly approximate their estimates of the deaths are'. I say look first then at total deaths, not cause of death. These are not 'wildly approximate' but I guess making that point does not suit the narrative. Better to leave the impression that all mortality figures are 'wildly approximate'. At this point I stopped watching.

Japanese island Hokkiko hit by send wave after lock down ends. From zero or one infection a day has now jumped to 168 in a week. They are going back to lock down.

Restrictions will apparently be eased from next week gradually, according to our Government.

The active cases here has reduced down to 900 odd cases.

Restrictions on international travel will remain.

It also appears that our Football Leagues and sporting events will start up again.
