Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

Why is that?

I'm just reporting the things that are actually happening.

The last time I went to the supermarket, all you see is Chinese and Indians panic buying and carrying on. Not many Australians to be found and not as many Europeans either although I do know of a few Greeks panic buying. Mostly the elderly and mostly those who have experienced war and hunger.

Australians, and he richer socio-economic for some reason don't give a shit. And that is the general Australianized mentality. they are very laid back. Soime say too laid back. And some say it's gonna bite them down the track like it has Italy and Spain. i believe this as well.

Because even recently, you see Australians flock to the bars, restaurants and not practicing any social distancing and so on. There were 15000 people on Bondi beach for crying out loud forcing the authorities to close the beach.

Erol was not asking which ethnicities are more likely to panic buying and hoarding but rather whether it was more likely by wealthier nations than those who are not.

I personally keep same level of food and supplies at all times. Just something I learned to be self sufficient and secure when sailing across the Atlantic and the Pacific. The boat was had enough supplies to last for at least 3 months for crew of 3-4 with the help of catching fish every so often, just in case my celestial navigation took us away from where we intended to “hit” land or lost a mast or two. I can easily last 3 months in a complete lock down here now where if everything were to shut. I have mostly dehydrated and dried food that can last for ages, as long as we have water and power to cook. Just for added comfort, there is a river just a stone throw away where I live just in case we lose water too.

I do as well. Always keep about 2 weeks of food. I haven't changed my behaviour at all.

Other than when you do find things like toilet paper, then you will buy is. Also things like Pasta, canned foods, meat, hand sanitizers and so on.

We are going to supermarkets and finding empty shelves.

However, I am still able to get things I need by going to Greek, and Italian wholesalers. I also go to little Kabul and get meat from an Afghan Butcher which I like, found pasta in the Afghan mini mart next door as well, which you can't get at a supermarket, and other things I like like fresh Okra. And I don't go crazy because I know supermarkets will remain open and the Government will implement a system where only certain streets or numbers can go on particular days.

The panic buying only started with a small minority of society. And it has snow balled from there as more people were forced into it.

Australians are a little too blasé. Always have been, and probably always will be.

If you want to get high demand products you have to line up 1 hour before the shops pen and make a mad dash for it.

I don't know about you but I:

1) couldn't be bothered getting up that early when I don't have to, and

2) couldn't be bothered lining up and then taking a couple of hours to get through a check out.

Plus, I don't want to be in too close of proximity to that many people. So I end up going later and by that time, some shelves are gutted of certain things. Couldn't even but my favorite Scotch Finger biscuits.

I rarely have more than a few days supply of food. I do however stock up on my wine, for ...medicinal purpose of course. I still go fishing each morning but what I catch I give to my cats. !!
As far as toilet rolls go, well I go once a day so a couple of rolls is all that I need. I realy can't fathom out why arseholes stock up on bog rolls, I suppose they are full of shit.

At your age, I think you can count yourself lucky you aren't in nappies yet!

I haven't seen any shortage of nappies so you should be ok.

As for the rest of us in the real world, we have to provide food and other essentials to a growing family including children. We also during these times make sure our kids are properly santized and that they are taught to practice good hygiene and that means we need things like hand washes, sanitizers, soap, and as a last resort, methylated spirits.

I did all these before the ...kids left their nests. Now I just have my self to care for.
It comes to us all in time if your lucky .
I shall be 74 on May 9th, will then have a further 23 years , might actually increase that slightly, my ...contract is renewable.
About 6 years ago you and GR were giving me a few months, I was diagnosed with Prostate cancer in August 2014, I rejected treatment then and still do now.
By the way, Im the happiest man alive !!

The question is .... where are their NATO Allies? Is Italy not under attack by a 'horrible' enemy'? Even the Chinese are sending facemasks and gloves to Italy as they are to Iran.
