...oh what a mess Brazil is in.

"The only minister to mention COVID-19 was the environment minister."

And that mention generated a firestorm of controversy.

Environment Minister Ricardo Salles says in the video, "Now that the media's only talking about COVID, we need to use this moment of calm... to change all the regulations."

Brazil, also the exception, talking policy, Sweden; different results, same premise: different intentions.

FWIW seems to me it is Trump handing Australia the lube as China slaps 80% tariffs on Oz agricultural products even as they agree to buy billions more from the US ;) Somehow I doubt you will agree but there are some out there who do.

Well, Bolsonaro has that in common with his leading star up north that he doesn't give a f&%king shit about the people he is supposed to serve.

In Sweden they an "Ordnung muß sein"-mentality close to what can be found in Germany/Switzerland, combined with strong social commitment.

I consider Bolsonaro, Kim Jongh-Un and Trump to be just as jeopardous to their own people

We are not that worried about the tariffs.

We have a lot of resources to sell, and we have many countries lining up to buy. We don't have a shortage of demand on our resource sector.

Trading with the devil isn't something we Australians like to do. Australians are not for sale and will choose country over money. Right now, Chy-na has just shot itself in the foot, and right now, they are public enemy number 1. Australians will not sell their souls, or forgive Chy-na anytime soon for what they have done.

Now, the power is with the country that has a shitload of resources and energy to sell. Who is going to say no? The US, Russia, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, the EU?

As far as I am concerned, these sanctions are the best thing that has happened. i am actually in favour of a further escalation where all diplomatic ties are cut completely. What Australia should do is stop all exports of resources to Chy-na. They would be totally screwed!

They got no universities to send their students either. More opportunity for our Aussie kids.

The Chy-nese thought they can push Australia because they think that by buying 40% of our trade, we are easily pushed. But no! The Australian people don't want Australia to sell to Chy-na.

can anyone push countries like Australia and Saudi Arabia around? Not likely, when we keep the lights on. Why don't they cut Australia off completely? because we keep the lights on in Shanghai!

It's Chyna that needs the lube. they are being embarrassed internationally, and what is worse, their international credibility just disintegrated into thin air. Who the hell is going to want to be doing business with them now?

Does that 'we' include the Australian barely farmers, their families and the workers or exclude them ?

Yet the 'devil' IS your biggest trading partner in exports and imports ? So was Trump's beautiful and fantastic phase one trade agreement with China NOT about getting them to buy more USA agricultural products, meaning them buying less from their existing sources, like er , errhm Australia ?

What about their barley ?

You think the US is going to buy more agricultural products from OZ do you, even though it is using all it's might to try and force the Devil to buy it's own surpluses ?

Well at least you have dropped the 'we' on this one ;)

What about our barley?

Why don't the Chy-nese try it with our Iron Ore, Coal, Natural Gas, and other metals.

We are not going to be standing down because we want to sell barley!

We can sell our barley elsewhere. But Chy-na can't buy resources from elsewhere in such volumes apart from Brazil. And the Chy-nese don't like Brazil.

Trump is welcome to it.

But somehow I doubt trump will be cutting deals with the devil either.

I doubt the Chy-nese will want to trade as much with Trump either because Australia is nowhere near as critical about Chy-na as the US is. All we asked for was for an international led investigation into Chy-na Virus and we didn't even insinuate anything or accuse chy-na of anything. Just instigated an investigation. Which should have been automatic.
