Some of you guys are not seeing the forest through the trees!

This crisis is not about body counts only. If it is going to be about body counts only based on Coronavirus vs. Flu related deaths, we are in the very early stages of the devastations to come yet on the Coronavirus related deaths.

Perhaps some of you might start seeing the forest through the trees then.

That may well be the case...

But was are told this is: -

1) Highly contageous
2) Deadly

So far it has been active since at least January (possibly November) and has clocked up just a million infections and 50,000 deaths from a World-wide population of 7bn.

It seems hard to believe at this stage that it is both 1) and 2)....

Compare this to:

“The World Health Organization estimates that worldwide, annual influenza epidemics result in about 3-5 million cases of severe illness and about 250,000 to 500,000 deaths.”

https://www.medscape.com/answers/219557 ... -influenza

So why isn’t the media fanning the flames of hysteria and panic about influenza, giving us constant reports about numbers of cases and deaths, which celebrities have come down with it etc. etc. ad nauseum to the extent that there is no other news reporting, given that it causes more illness and death? Where is the balance and proportion? There is either an ulterior political motive or irrational mass hysteria has taken hold.

The truth is we do not have true numbers.

The numbers we have if they can be believed are based on testing done, which is a tiny % vs. world’s population.

Just how many people have died from Coronavirus related but was labeled death by flu related illnesses before the world took notice? Even when China reported the outbreak, the rest of the world went on business as usual for another few months. Even today, many poor countries are not testing despite deaths piling up on the streets like Ecuador, but no answers to the cause of those deaths as no tests has been done.

Precisely.

And yet you claim: -

What we do know for absolutely sure is that the World economy will be FUBAR if we continue on our current course.

I think we should have the numbers before we take such drastic actions and not rely on dodgy 13+ year old computer models.

There is a very useful summary here with links to more detailed information of views expressed by various highly qualified health experts who question the current hysterical response to this novel coronavirus, given that for as long as humans have existed coronaviruses have been mutating as people develop immunity to the old ones and coming round each winter in novel form causing such illnesses as influenza and the common cold:

I stand by my statement.

If you haven’t noticed, the death rates are climbing each day in the thousands from very few not so long ago. This alone should cause for concern. There are no real answers how to curb the spread of this virus. No one knows for sure the lockdown will work. It is all an experiment, but since the world wide spread has happened after starting in China Without the lockdown, it is obvious that the virus has spread to the point where we are today because people were in close proximity to each other to those who had the virus. This cannot be disputed unless you can show me that the Coronavirus is in the atmosphere or in the water and has no relevance to people mingling together in numbers.

Excellent...

The problem is of course if it just dies out we'll be told that it was all due to the lockdown and government actions after... It was then be used as the model every time somebody sneezes in winter.

Well I'm guessing that neither of us are virologists - but you should read the expert onions on Tim's post...
