Just look at FB comments by Cypriot ...."scientists"
It appears that Cypriots in general do not adhere to rules and regulations. Ate re, exathiken o cosmos  :D
Just look at the way they drive !! Red lights in Cyprus mean go if there is no traffic, indicators are for malakies,
mind you they are a lovely lot in spite of their dirty looking ... beards  We can forget tourism this summer, as for Easter, well Jesus rises every year, give him a ...rest this year.

I wouldnt say its just Cypriots,

I have seen the xerokefali and they come in all shades and sizes.

I predict there will be another month long lock down quite soon, with only one outing allowed per day for essential supplies.

Health workers are starting to sound the alarm that they are reaching breaking point.

Only supermarkets, kiosks and pharmacy will remain open and restaurants for delivery only. Or some shit like that.

Work from home where possible and stay home for a a couple of weeks where not.

The number of daily infections are going to keep rising unless people are restricted from moving around.

It took the UK 3+ months and an accelerated vaccination program to get the situation under control and bring the number of daily infections down by about 95%.

OK things have changed dramatically in the last 24 hours. Out of 6 relatives 5 our out in the clear.

One relative has just been put on a ventilator and is under 24 hour surveillance. I guess that's what we call ICU in Australia.

So that's not good...

We had our first COVID case in the family several months ago. My kids cousin. A young fit boy, plays Football. Hardly had symptoms. But the next victim in the family was his mum. She also pulled through fine.

We had 4 cases recently. 2 pulled out fine, one almost went on a ventilator and was hospitalized, and now we have one in ICU on a ventilator. So we are bracing ourselves now.

3 days ago I witnessed something very interesting here.

Never saw so much security and police at the one place.

A bus load pulling up at a medi hotel with 4 Covid cases on board. Bus under police escort and into the hotel - a lush 5 star hotel as well. Police cordons at the front of the hotel. All police wearing masks and gloves.

Looked like a movie scene. No one allowed near the bus. No one allowed near the hotel.

I initially thought some foreign head of government was visiting. But no. All that security over 4 Covid cases. :o

Then when you look behind the police, there were all these paramedics and medicos waiting for the bus to arrive. Also wearing PPE.

They are serious about not letting this escape from quarantine. Very serious. It must cost millions an entire operation like this.

Meanwhile the vaccination program here is slow. Almost grinding to a stand still.

We have supplies of Astra Zeneca. But because if some incident we had with the EU, Italy in particular, and the negative press reports, Australians don’t want the Astra Zeneca jab.

So they are waiting for orders of Pfizer and Johnstone and Johnstone to come in.

Phase 1a not even completed yet. These are medical and emergency front line workers. They only give them Pfizer and we are in short supply of those.

It looks like I’ll be getting a jab from the USA before traveling there and that means a trip to Melbourne to the US Consulate. My wife and 2 kids may also get the jab thanks to the US Government as they will soon be full US residents too.

It’s very lucky we don’t have too much to worry about just that because of this debacle. Apparently Australia is taking on the Astra Zeneca company for breaches to their contract. An action which could lead to a total ban of all medical supplies from any associated companies.

You're right about that. India seems to be a far better place to be now

Not sure where you got that data from,

India is at 350k confirmed daily cases.

Increasing at a rate of about 15% a day.

According to WHO.

The graphs are based on cases per million. Which is why Cyprus is so high on a case per million basis.

He got the data from here:

https://ourworldindata.org/covid-cases

Currently, Cyprus is the worst country for COVID in the world. the most infected country, from what we know. So be very careful Max.
