Indeed, without Sevres, a Caliphate would have existed in Istanbul.

...not just about Turkey though, but France, from the British perspective.

And the Armenians, do they exist without Sevres, a question not yet answered; was this Treaty replaced or is it just as important as the one which followed it, creating the Turkish borders for a Modern Turkey?

Britain got most of what it wanted, France and Italy extended their influence over a large part of the what was the Ottoman Empire.

For Mustafa it was the golden opportunity to oppose their Imperialism, and refused to sign (read: agree to) the Treaty.

...and it was Greek forces that came to clash against him, surpassed by events, they failed.

Unintended consequences were the result; a "new" Treaty, and a "new" Turkey.

If Erdogan seeks to make out of Turkey, the Protector of the Islamic Faith around the world, an Equal in a balance to the Western World, he must consider how Faith has been so successfully sustained, as such; what makes the Jewish/Christian set of States so successful is their vitality, it is not mono-clonal, yet the constant remains, one God.

...isn't it enough that what is left is tiny to what it was, the diversity of a land inhabited long before there was a Turkey? It is said that Istanbul is the site of a new Caliphate, will it be enough to be a loving Person to live there? and if you are Turkish, will you have to be "Turkish" enough?
