Actually Trump did do something about it. He organised an urgent press conference and gave a speech pleading with the protesters to go home. He also said those responsible for the mayhem and destruction will pay,

Later he even declared an Emergency until after Biden’s inauguration because he fears it might happen again. So Trunp has done more than enough.

Secondly, what exactly did Pence escape really? The protesters didn’t hurt anyone and the Secret Service are drilled and trained to respond to potential assassins against the POTUS and VP to the point where they surround the POTUS and VP with their own bodies as a human shield. They always scope out their emergency exit points and guard it with their life. The protesters didn’t get close and if they attempted to, quite of few of them would have been killed. The Secret Service doesn’t use tasers or anything like that. They only shoot to kill if that is what it takes.
