CANZUK: Could this be what Britain is up to?

Postby Paphitis » Tue Oct 06, 2020 4:11 am

The worlds newest superpower.

A union that will be more than a trade block but a real union between states - all speaking the same language and all nearly always voting the same way on all issues.

I like the flag.

...indeed the Commonwealth has always been a significant power, representing so many countries.

It would not be hard to revive its value to its members, security-wise, given their strategic positions; and their willingness to promote Trade to each other's benefit.

...India, and the African horn would also be important players in that regard.

Sorry but I don’t think India, or any African states are involved or even others from the Commonweslth. That would be a disaster.

Just 4 countries. All developed, the same language and seemingly compatible.

Interesting that’s all.

Hi mate!

Yes the security arrangement of 5 eyes which includes the US.

But they decking CANZUK is going to be much deeper than just defence and security. It will be a trade block and may as go as deep to be a union between these 4 countries. If you ask me, it makes a lot of sense in that these 4 countries concerned see eye to eye 99.9% of the time and have cultural and linguistic connections.

To be honest RW, there is such a thing as being too big. Like the EU for instance. Once other countries which have nothing in common with us are let in, then that is when the concept fails.

Keep it simple, keep it small and it should work.

A union between the UK, Canada, Australia and NZ I think is as far as it should go. Maybe add the US down the track after they sort themselves out. Maybe at a stretch France because with France the whole Pacific Ocean becomes our little lake plus they share some culture with parts of Canada as well.

But I think that should be it. The 5th strongest military with nuclear weapons, and the third largest economy gets us just where we should be without the arguments and disagreements as all involved are just peas in the same pod.

Plus, even with total freedom of movement between us, each country doesn’t feel as being overwhelmed in terms of their demographics.

France is very close ally to Australia in particular. Macron is very close friends with Morrison.

France is always inviting Australia to all NATO summits.

The reason is when you add the Australian, NZ and French EEZ together, it covers a huge amount of the Pacific.

I think France would be great if they were added. But I think there is no purpose to be served to add any other countries other than cause too many issues,

The other thing that brings France and Australia close are the Shortfin Submarines.
