Selecting new Moderators

Postby Admin » Thu Jul 21, 2022 4:21 pm

As I wrote in another thread I would prefer if there is a consensus for the new moderator(s).

So please write at least 5 names, preferably more, among the currently active members whom you believe would be acceptable as moderators. You do not need to write your own name.

Hopefully one or more members will be acceptable by all.

The moderators will mostly deal with approving new members and rejecting spam.

Admin, you mention spam a lot... I assume you mean bots, so if you are able to edit the forum’s HTML and JavaScript then here’s a programming solution that should block like 90% of bots automatically.

function NoBots(event){

if(event.isTrusted){

alert('This came from a human');

} else {
alert('This came from a bot');
}
}

<button id="logon" onclick="NoBots(event);">Logon</button> <--- Your logon button.

NB: Only Puppeteer / Selenium may be able to fool this code.

You should raise a new thread “The war against Yialousa1971”. :wink:

Thanks Paphitis for your nomination; i accept since it might help us all.

Lordo would be my first choice because he has taken the most punishment, and (still) here on a daily basis; (what would we do without him?)

DT would be my second choice, if as i imagine he reads often and posts rarely; provided that he too accepts the nomination.

Maximus, while i often find him on the 'other side' of the debate, if you will, he is a plain speaker; a dollars and cents kind of guy who has sense enough and who is not entirely heartless.

Kiks, if he has the time would also be a fine choice, one which i would support without hesitation, although an adjunct for administrative purposes paired with GR may provide the balance we need as countervailing powers; if such a position is to be filled.
