Nice to see the Royal Oak, Trimiklini. It was our stop off for coffee point when going from Limassol to Lemythou to visit the wifes family in the 70s.

Before 1974 we only ever went to Nicosia or Larnaca. Nicosia to see relatives and sell tomatoes and Larnaca to the seaside called Istanbul beach. I do remember one time my father took us to Karpaz. His cousin's son came from London and he took them to Karpaz to see a girl for a bit of match making. What a day that was. It was the first time I saw a TC women wearing long dresses and trousers underneath. It looked very funny. I remember being in a Kolokas field.

Every time I hear this song it reminds me of Istanbul beach in Larnaca.

At the coffee club I met a geneticist who worked in the lab looking into the DNA samples to identify the remains of the individual recovered and which families they belonged to. I mentioned to him about the experiment they did when they asked 500 people from each community to supply blood to investigate the DNA of people living in Cyprus. He told me after that experiment they came to a very interesting conclusion. Both TCs and GCs who supplied the sample all originate from one individual who came to Cyprus from Sardinia.

So we are in essence all related. Separate from the Greeks and Turks but clearly there are some genes from them too within us.
