Angels and Eurovision Cry

Postby Sotos » Thu Feb 23, 2006 12:27 am

Why Angels cry? I don't know. But I know why we are crying after the song that they selected to represent us in Eurovision! I mean it was an OK song for people that like that kind of songs but too depressive for me. I preferred the "land of yesterday" that was partly sung in Cypriot dialect, or the "love on the weekend" or at least "congratulations". "Every time I close my eyes" was I believe the best from the slow songs. What was strange was the voting. Each district voted in the way that countries vote in the real Eurovision and the votes were TOTALY inconsistent. Some songs received 1 point from some districts and 12 from others  Something very fishy was happening

After two semifinals and one final, Cyprus decided; Annette Artani will represent the island at the 51st Eurovision Song Contest! That is the outcome of tonight's event, A Song for Europe. She will sing the ballad Why angels cry, written and composed by Petros Yannaki.

Points were given based on the televoting results from five regions, while the overall result was converted into a sixth voting region. Televoters decided that Anette will represent the Mediterranean island in Athens during the semifinal of the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place in Athens, Greece, on 18th May.

4. Valanto Trifonos - After you - 41 points
5. Andreas Konstantinides - Love on the weekend - 35 points
6. Nick Nikolaou & Vicky Anastassiou - Funky - 34 points
7. Eleftheria ft. Maria Zorli - Play that melody 4 me - 32 points
8. Kostas Andronikou - Everytime I close my eyes - 25 points
9. Marina Solonos - I'm a fighter - 23 points
10. Eleni Andreou - Just your smile - 17 points

She lived most of her life in Greece.

I have no idea why, but seing who got to represent Cyprus, I guess I can understand why.

Besides, Greece chose her already without going through the voting.

I thing we will all cry collectively.
It just a boring song with no musical depth
Why on earth did people vote for it?
I am mystified
