I was just looking at the global top 10 “rich” list…

1. Elon Musk ($342 billion), co-founder of Tesla and SpaceX
2. Mark Zuckerberg ($216 billion), co-founder of Facebook and CEO of Meta
3. Jeff Bezos ($215 billion), founder of Amazon
4. Larry Ellison ($192 billion), co-founder of tech giant Oracle
5. Bernard Arnault and family ($178 billion), founder and CEO of LVMH, luxury goods conglomerate, holding brands such as Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co.
6. Warren Buffet ($154 billion), investor known as the "Oracle of Omaha," CEO and chairman of Berkshire Hathaway
7. Larry Page ($144 billion ), co-founder of Google and former CEO of its parent company, Alphabet
8. Sergey Brin ($138 billion), co-founder of Google and former president of Alphabet
9. Amancio Ortega ($124 billion), founder of clothing retailer Inditex, which sells Zara and various other brands
10. Steve Ballmer ($118 billion), former CEO of Microsoft

Do you know what really sucks to be in this list?

The fact that you’ll never be able to spend most of your wealth on yourself!

The fact that you have no choice but to gift the bulk of your hard earned money to others once you drop dead!

The fact that others waiting in line probably wish you dead 24/7 so that they may pounce on your money!

The fact that incompetent and unappreciative nobodies will in the future, be basking in luxury wasting your hard earned money while never sparing a thought as to where all that money came from!

The fact that you trust nobody especially those that are close and really nice to you because you know the reason!

The fact that you’d happily pay 99% of your wealth if only someone had an elixir to sell you!

The fact that you probably spend more time with your lawyer than your loved ones forever amending your will & testament!

The fact that you are forever measured by kids and grand-kids in terms of how much you’ve spent on them!

The miserable list goes on and on… so I recon being in that list isn’t a blessing but a curse!

They do say that money doesn't buy happiness but having no money doesn't buy it either.

So, I would rather have it than not and I dont know why anyone would choose otherwise.

Being financially comfortable is one thing… but having to manage such ridiculous amounts of funds; which in some cases challenge that of nations, is the stuff of nightmares!

The other day I asked my father-in-law…

“Why do you keep playing Joker?”

“To win of course!” He said!

“And what will you do with so many millions if you win?” I asked.

“Give it to my daughters!” He confidently boasted!

“Your daughters have both paid off their mortgages and cars and everything… they don’t need anything else!” I reminded!

“I’ll give it to my grand-kids!” He then said!

“Your grand-kids have to find their own way in life… to become something… not receive huge handouts and be lazy and unappreciative!” I warned…

He started looking at me funny…

I'm with Max...

Getting rid of money really isn't the issue you seem to believe it is GR...

Getting it in the first place - and keeping it - is the hard part...

Another thing… wealth is good if it comes and finds you while you’re young, strong and adventurous… but what would you do with millions if you win it at say… 70+?

That’s why I no longer waste money on Lotto or Joker… even though I’m still 4 months shy of 60!

I no longer yearn for millions because I really can’t be bothered managing and spending that much money!

In fact, we’ve already got so much stuff in the house I really don’t know what to do with it, so I often ask my wife…

“What’s gonna happen with all this stuff after I’m gone… how are you going to manage this house and all this stuff? Why are we still piling up stuff?”

Sometimes when we visit a hyper store I look at all the rows of isles packed with never-ending products and I think to myself…

“This is my personal storeroom… they’re saving everything for me right here just in case I need something so there’s no point in taking anything home right now… it’ll always be here waiting for me!”

So I leave the store without purchasing anything and thank God for that… less crap in the house!

Here’s what I value… peace, tranquility and love & loyalty with my sweetheart!

I really don’t care about anything else. :)

Reminds me of when we go shopping at Lidl. I usually wander off to the centre isles. I’m a succour for things like the tool sets. The eyes glaze over.

Fast forward 3 months and I’m doing a job. I need a 5mm masonry drill. Urgently. So, I drive into town and Super Home to get one. A couple of days later only to find I’ve got two - unopened - packs of a dozen Parkway masonry drill bits in the shed.

I love that centre isle... I've got my eye on a flux-wire welder, not sure what I would weld with it but I WANT it!

Ah yes… that never-ending internal capitalist battle between WANT and NEED!

Sounds like your defenses have long given up...
