I definately must give the AA a go.

I have had mixed reports about Heritage, someone said it was a bit quirky and didn't get good results while others say it is good. Any thoughts??

I spoke to someone there on the telephone who was really friendly and helpful which is a good sign, they are also moving to a bigger site so will have places available.

In contrast I spoke to someone at Foleys who was rather stand-offish! Their out of date website and anwer phone message kind of gave the wrong 'badly organised' signal.

I have also heard that Logos is very religious but it does seem to be a decent school?

Thanks

Foleys are kindof full of themselves, and are very strict in everything they do..... still, they have excellent teachers, new facilities and lotsof extracurricular stuff to do.

Then again, their strict attitude is what made me move to Grammar School which is more lax. Even though at the time I was happy (cos I had to do much less :) ) looking back now, Foleys is by far the better choice.

When I was looking for a school for my daughter, I was in the same boat as I have friends who have kids in most schools. I didn't want to say before in case I offended anyone but the kids appeared to me to be 'stuck up' at Foleys and am glad I stuck to my guns on that, I have met some kids in outside clubs who attend Foleys and they definitely have a 'superior' attitude. Maybe thats just my view but its what I see. I much prefer my daughter to grow up not thinking she is better than anyone who goes to a comprehensive but to appreciate she had a good start in life.Logos has great reports and is religious but I don't think that would really matter as long as the results were good. Heritage was my other choice as as you say, has a very homely and friendly attitude, the only thing that put me off was at the time, it was a dump but as you have been told, since then they have built a brand new school high up on the Troodos Road. Sorry, but although from others you may hear stories about AA, I personally am more than happy with everything there, I love the values they teach the kids, they donot tolerate any formof bullying and are continuously introducing new UK ideas and formats into the curriculum. They have regular parent/teacher meetings, extremely friendly staff and a fantastic headmistress, Mrs Demitriou, who the kids adore, (that doesn't happen often does it??) They give out certificates every month at an open assembly to which you can attend,to the student in every year who has achieved the most for the month, not necessarily grades but effort which is noted by the staff. I personally think this is a wonderful way as I remember getting sick of watching the really clever students at school continuously pick up the awards which I don't think was very encouraging for anyone else. Sorry to babble on but its just my views, hope it helps!

I cannot agree more with you. My best friend attended AA on a scholaship when bach when.... I am feeling old right now. ANyway, she ended up with a scolarship to Cambridge and I dont think that she could have done it, no matter how clever if she wasnt taught by good teacher etc.

It is so difficult to judge.

Are there any systems in place that state academic results?

I know this is not the most important factor but it would give me an idea.
