Hi macwomble

I feel the price I had may have been a little expensive!

It gives me a good idea on what I should be paying.

Thanks for this.

Hi Niki

We used Brittania (we came from manchester) then I think it was handed to LSA at the Cyprus end. We had a 20foot container, with insurance nearly st£3000. Included 3 guys packing for 2 days, then at this end putting each item in the designated room even up to the 3rd floor of our house - which a lot of them say they won't do!
Excellent service, would recommend them

Storage facilities

Postby cyprusoon » Mon May 22, 2006 3:08 pm

Dear Andreas

We have a fully furnished 3 bedroomed holiday villa for sale at the moment in Kolossi nr Limassol. We are considering selling it unfurnished and storing the funiture and household goods rather than buying it all again when we find another property.

Could you give me some idea of the cost of transporting and packing the goods and storing for 6 - 12 months. Do you have storage facilities in the Limassol area?

The house only has basic furniture:

4 single beds
1 kingsize bed
3 bedside tables
1 Single wardrobe
Sofa and 2 chairs
Coffee table
Dining table and 6 chairs
TV, DVD and Stereo System
Washing machine, dishwasher, Fridge/Freezer, microwave
All crockery, pots and pans etc.
All bedlinen and towels
4 sunbeds and mats
Patio table and 6 chairs
Various mirrors and pictues etc.

Many thanks

Relocation costs

Postby bungle » Sat Jun 03, 2006 5:10 pm

We shipped 4 cubic metres of belongings last June through GAP from London to Larnaca. they came to our house in London (used Team Relocations locally) and packed all our stuff and took it away. We then saw it again about 4 weeks later delivered to our door and taken out of the crates but left in boxes. Nothing was missing or damaged and the service was excellent. The charge for everything was approx. STG£900 inc. VAT.

We left some items in storage in London at a huge cost of £150 per month for a 55 sq ft storage unit in South London. (This does include insurance costs as well)

We are now planning on bringing everything over and have not been able to get the date we want through Team Relocations / GAP so are hoping to use Orbit who seem very professional and responsive to emails / tel calls.

They charge CYP£140 per cubic metre - not the cheapest on the market but we feel confident with them. Insurance is extra.

I have also heard that you can claim back the VAT on the cost of shipping your belongings over here. I think you have to apply to the housing department for this - alternatevely you could try the Ministry of Finance in Nicosia.
