I think people are under the impression that you can live over here for peanuts. The cost of living is high, not as high as the UK, but the wages are alot lower which is usually why both husband and wife work. A litre of milk is 60c, our electricity bill averages £250 for 2 months (4 bed house), the oil for our central heating is about £250 for about 6-7 weeks during the winter. I live and work in Larnaca and use a tank of petrol in about 3 weeks which is £24.

However, would rather have the sunshine and security of Cyprus anyday of the week!

I have to be honest, I know that the prices in Cyprus are near enough the same as here in regards to food and stuff but its a shock at high low wages are and how difficult it seems to be to earn a decent wage to actually enjoy living there.
It sounds like we might have to work a hell of a lot harder there than here.

did you have a job ready before you went?

was it really difficult to find it?
