Why oh why do they do it?????

Postby bones » Mon Mar 20, 2006 12:20 pm

Having been here for over a year now i just had to raise this subject.
Seat belts why oh why do people not learn, it astounds me to see parents belted in with the child standing between the front seats, do they not realise what will happen if they hit a car coming the other way, goodbye child. I have seen the results of somebody hitting the windscreen and dashboard at high speed, i have also seen the result of someone hitting the fornt seat driver/passenger at high speed, let me tell you it aint for the squemish, seat belts save lives and that is a fact. Come on out there, if you are one of those that can't be bothered think of the consequences. Oh and those who say "I am avery careful driver, it would never happen to me" think again thats why they are called "accidents", if you knew it was going to happen then of course it would'nt be an "accident" would it!!!!!!!

The police are trying but they need to be even more firm. A child was killed about 6 months ago after being hurled through the windscreen of a car from the back seat. The parents are buckled up, but they think it will never happen to them.

There was a picture in Lanitis page 2 years ago in the Cyprus Weekly of a child asleep on the rear parcel shelf of a car. Enough said really

Maybe, seeing as Cypriots are utterly stubborn and obstinate, you could get round this point of common sense. And appeal to the handy sense of stupidy imbued in their middle eastern genes.

Why not, dispense with windscreens, and attach bungy cords to the pants of children standing in the back. That way, if the driver rear ends some cock in a pick up...the child will merely boing 50 yards into the sky, and then be elasticated safely back into the confines of the car.

Ok, the two morons in the front seats have had it, but you can't please everyone. Bungy cords don't come cheap. Plus there is the small matter of the dash board getting in the way.

Look, they don't wear seat belts because that would be far too much like normality. And bubbles don't do normal.

Twinkle to be honest when I was a young child, I also used to sleep on the rear parcel of my dad's old Escort (nice curvy parcel!!!) and I was really enjoying the view, but nowadays I would never allow anyone I know to do this to his kid... This seat belt arrogance reminds me of my parents... They also believe that they drive carefully etc..... Thanks god my car has the new seat belts reminder for all the seats, hence they have to wear the seatbelts otherwise they will get mad with that buzzer!!! :) I'm trying to find such buzzer as an aftermarket kit for their cars!!!

Here think on this one.
Dad goes out and spends 5.000 quid on a very expensive crystal vase, now theres a problem how does he get it home in the car on his own without causing it to break,
Answer!! of course wrap it in bubble wrap and strap it into the car, yes if he was to have an accident the vase would be undamaged. Well he had to look after it did he not, i mean all that money!!!!!!!
Now what value do they put on a childs life.
I have given the same example to people and they all come up with the same answer, of course it is the obvious solution. SHAME about the beautiful 3 year old daughter who has been scarred for life or worse still had her face mashed to a pulp as she shatters the windscreen and then hits the roof of the car the parent has just hit. :x
ITS AMAZING THE STUPIDITY OF SOME PEOPLE.

I like how it is the law in the US. Makes people do it cause they have to. If you dont wear your seat belt you get a ticket but if your kid doesnt you might lose your kid in some states.

It is the law here also. And things are much better than 15 years ago. 15 years ago nobody was wearing a seat belt. Now I think most people wear them.

I had a great laugh last January.
I was giving a friend a ride. He reached for his seatbelt, pulled it on his side so the shoulder belt was over his shoulder and held it without buckling it in for over 4 miles.

We argued about it for a bit. He just felt that way and was not about to follow the law.
