i know TC's from london who have holidayed in Ayia Napa without any problems. these other attacks i believe are isolated incidents.

I know several Turkish Cypriots who work in the Greek Area (Ayia Napa, Nicosia and Larnaca) and they don't have any problems, I think that coming and staying in a hotel would be perfectly safe.

I think that maybe your nephew might have provoked a little bit and being a TC had nothing to do with the fact that he got his butt whooped.

i visited friends in the north and they visited me in the south. no problem in any of the two cases.
thats my personal experience.
