the BEACHES in Cyprus

Postby Oneness » Wed May 10, 2006 12:14 pm

Why is it that Cyprus which relies so heavily on tourism has so many beaches with poor quality sand, stone and rocks? Cant the municipalities spare some cash and lay down some soft white sands? Pissouri and many other places would be so much better.

I know that in limassol they managed to turn many of the beaches into sandy ones.
This is also true for paralimni.

As far as I know, they managed this in Limassol by building rock barriers so that over the years natural sand has deposited there widening the beach. It is quite good for safety cause it is gradual depth and sheltered. But the sand itself is dark and a bit like mud.

Paralimni area has quite good beaches.

In paralimni in the agia trada area they imported sand in order to make the beach sandy. This is going back 15 years or so.

'Tropical Paradise' silver or golden sand will always be more attractive the same as a sunny blue sky is more cheerful than a grey cloudy sky
