Why didn't Greece defend Cyprus in 1974?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Should Greece have gone to war with Turkey in 1974?

Hi this is for Hasan, why do you think that the Turkish Cypriots would have been ethnically cleansed if Cyprus became part of Greece? There are thousands of Turks living quite happily in Thrace in Greece, why haven't they been "Ethnically Cleansed"? They would simply have been even more of a minority, which understandably many didn't want..... And the greeks did not attempt to defend Cyprus, it's a fact! Plus these so called tens of thousand of greek settlers in the south? That's just silly, any few greek settlers in the south have come to Cyprus legally, just like the brits who live in Cyprus, etc..... They were not shipped over in there thousands to change the structure of the Island!

I'm sorry if i seem angry, i just don't like false propaganda, it helps no one reach sollutions! Peace! (",)

Why do some Turkish Cypriots believe that Greek Cypriots hate them? All the Propaganda that is telling you this is false! I was never told to hate a Turkish Cypriot, but was always told of peace the two communities lived in, my father always tells fond me fond memories of grandfathers Turkish Cypriot friends!! I have never been told to either hate a Turkish Cypriot, or That the Turkish Cyrpiots hate me! On the contrary we are always told just how much in common the two communities have, after all we are both Cyrpiots after all!! This idea that there is hatred is an old fashioned idea, coined by people like Denktash to justify the occupation of Cyrpus, claiming that it is there to "protect" the Turkish Cypriot community.

Again i'm sorry if I seem angry, I just want those Turkish Cypriots who beleive that Greek Cypriots hate them to know that it is simply not true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just take the village of Pyla in the south, a mixed village where the two communities live together quite happily! (",)

You really need to talk to your own people, all generations 48% dont want us, this is a result of your own polls not ours. You also need to visit Pyle everyhing is seperate eg the TCs in one coffee shop the GCs in another not very mixed or together if you ask me.

Viewpoint, you confuse mistrust with hate. Yes, many GCs do not trust TCs but of course they do not hate them.

You often talk about how TCs mistrust GCs because of what happened for a decade, 32 years ago. If TC are excused to still mistrust GCs after 3+ decades, then you should understand that GCs are also excused to mistrust TCs when the occupation and the violation of their rights happen today as we speak.

The ones that hate TCs are a TINY minority. In fact even in our schools TCs are always portrait as being victims as well, and the blame is given to Turkey and the Greek junta.

This tiny minority theory is nothing but fabrication. I would guess that an overwhelming majority, perhaps as many as 75-85% of GC's hate us.

I don't give a damn whether I'm like or disliked by these people. I don't need them in my day to day life nor do I depend on them for my well being. As they say, "beni istemeyeni ben hic istemem".

Andry, I have always been honest re the Cyprus issue. I hope I'm not misunderstood by my remarks. I don't hate Greeks, in fact I don't hate anybody. What I'm simply saying is the vast majority of Greeks, GC's hate Turks and TC's. This of course is sad for all Turks but by the same token is not a big deal. I am not dependant on Greeks for my well being, I don't need anything from them at all, though it would have been nice if we could have shown love and respect for one another and live in peace. This is not going to happen in the foreseeable future. it may in century's to come but not in my lifetime.

Beni istemeyeni ben hic istemem simply means, if you don't want me why should I want you.

You are delusional. I think you have been smoking some of those drugs that most Turks try to peddle around Europe. Why don’t you tell your compatriots to stay put and stop coming over to the R.O.C and bleeding our Social Services? Most people would be grateful for handouts, but for you it just flames further your feeling of inadequacies. Fancy that, you and your ilk depending on a living from the very people you hate.

As an aside don’t bother boasting about your wealth. I doubt whether you a flushing TALAT, let alone a petrol driven car.
