I have 2 cars, a Subaru Forester S/Tb bought in cyprus and an Imported Lotus 7 with Kawasaki zx12r engine...

If you havent owned and insured the car for 6 months, and dont have proof of residence and job in another EU country when you import the car you will pay import duites...

Mine were cyp£650 for the lotus..

Cars are expensive in cyprus, especially second hand... the upside is the insurance is very cheap... cyp£270 for my Scoob, comprehensive, with zero no-claims bonus and one accident (age 41)

:D

G....thanks for the info.

Lotus 7 with ZX12R lump?!?! And a Scooby! Geez..... Speed Demon!

We will have owned and insured our rather more sedate RRSport for 6 months upon entering CY (New 06 plate registered on 1st March), have been residents and living and working all our working lives (Both in our early 30's) in UK.

I have emailed a contact in the Excise and Duty dept. jsut to confirm all this.
