Yes, all cities, most of their suburbs, many big villages and some smaller ones (if they have enough demand) have broadband ADSL.

Now they also have cheaper ADSL plans. The cheapest one is the 256Kbs one, that can be had for about 20 Cyprus pounds (price includes both telco and ISP)

You can go here: http://www.i-choice.cyta.com.cy/english/index.php and enter your phone number and it will tell you if ADSL is available in your area.

Here are the main ISPs that provide ADSL:

This is such a good site, I am really impressed, thank you for the help. One further question - would I be paying VAT in Cyprus on my Broadband installation and running cost. Is VAT at 17.5% the same as in the UK?

Yes, you will have to pay VAT. This is one of the things that advertised prices are without VAT :(

In Cyprus the VAT is "just" 15% though

There is also another provider in the market that has the second largest backbone capacity.

I've been told that OTE is the cheapest - 10 pounds per month for 1Mbit ADSL.

Are you sure you are not exaggerating? I estimate that only about 10% of the area of the Republic can have ADSL? CYTA won't play ball if you're more than 3 km of wire length from the exchange and that excludes many, even in the cities. As for the villages ... dream on :( I applied for ADSL 3½ years ago and am still waiting, with no hope for 2005, either. Yet there are five villages, popular as dormitory localities for well-heeled people who work in Nicosia and Larnaca within a 3 km radius. And there is a fibre optic cable running to the exchanges for these villages.

My advice is to carefully check whether you can connect to ADSL or not, to avoid a nasty surprise.

No. I am not exaggerating. Distance from exchange and cooper line quality is a problem in general with ADSL.

With big villages I mean Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Polis etc. Where do you live? As I said only some of the smaller villages have ADSL.

I estimate that only about 10% of the area of the Republic can have ADSL

I don't know the exact numbers. If we are talking about area I guess it should be around that. But I am guessing it should be available for more than 50% of the population. (small villages are always a bit deprived on this kinda stuff ;) )

A few questions; Does any one know what speed Cytanetforall runs
Do you need 1 or 2 lines for ISDN AND WHAT COST if you want a normal tel liine also?
And is broad band plus a normal tel line run on one single line?
And can you subscribe to dial up, ISDN OR BROAD BAND FOR LESS THAN A YEAR ie 1,3 or 6 mths?
