Broadband in Cyprus?

Postby eracles » Fri Nov 28, 2003 12:53 am

Admin note: Visit www.cyprusbroadband.net for in depth Cyprus Broadband information.

Does anyone know if broadband is commercially available in Cyprus at the moment.

Thanks,

ADSL is available in all cities and suburbs. Also you can find ADSL in big villages, or smaller villages where there is demand for it.

You can also get satellite broadband but thats very expensive.

Thanks for that - on the cytanet page it says you need the ichoice package - does that mean you need to pay Cytanet £12 and ichoice £23?

Thanks

yes, 23 for ichoice and 12 for Cytanet. (or 11 if you are using spidernet)
But in the 23 of ichoice includes the rent for the telephone line which is otherwise 5 pounds.

So if you use dialup it is 5 for Cyta plus about 6.50 for the ISP. (plus you are charged per minute while you are using the internet).

For ADSL is 23 + 11 and you are always on.

By the way, I've seen an advertisement on TV saying that cyta has a special offer now that the ADSL setup is free and that you will pay 18 pounds per month. Have they degreased it to 18 from 23 now? I went to their site and I couldn't find any info about this.

no, its just an adverticing trick. I saw the ad, and at the end they say that those 18 pounds do not include the rent of the telephone line, which is 5 pounds. So the total fixed amount you pay Cyta is still 23 pounds.
