Postby alexgoldie » Sun Mar 04, 2007 4:32 pm

A friend and myself are traveling around the world in the forth coming twelve months and will be visiting cypus for two weeks on the 03/06/07. subsiquently we are trying to see how many passport stamps we can aquire in this period. we have visited many european countries which have refused to stamp our passports due to the united kingdom been a member of the eurpeon union. therefore i am writing to you to inquire on the cypriot policy of passport stamping and if there is any writen permission or concent that we can obtain in order to allow this. also i would be greatfull if you could explain the greek cypriot situation on re entry from northern cyprus after a day visit if a turkish cypriot stamp has been issued.

Why don't you try to become a citizen of Colombia, then you can be sure, every country will stamp your passport.

With a EU passport, crossing the RoC/TRNC border (or the Green Line if you prefer) from either side will not get your passport stamped - although if you ask the girl on duty on the TC side (and it's usually a girl) she may well stamp your passport out of the goodness of her heart. TCs are mostly very nice people. Otherwise it's just a piece of paper that you fill in that gets stamped which you can keep as a souvenir. I'm not sure if there is a stamp on the GC side - passports of EU visitors are usually only glanced at.

Landing at Larnaca (RoC) will not get your passport stamped (RoC is EU). Landing at Ercan (TRNC) will. Ditto if you are coming by ferry Turkey-TRNC.

I believe that re-entering the South with a TRNC stamp in your passport can cause problems (EU National or not!).
