I didn't answer your question because TRNC has no obligation against GCs. TRNC does not claim to represent GCs.

The RoC, on the other hand, is supposed to be a bicommunal republic with safeguards for TCs against GC domination. Papadopoulos keeps insisting that the RoC exists and it represents TCs and he's providing the bare minimum to TCs in order to support his claim that the RoC exists and TCs are citizens of the RoC.

Note that the heart of the RoC is TC participation in the decision making but you don't even hear any discussion about this in the south.

Now with this said, I should add that I don't agree with what TRNC is doing. I think more can be done to promote the relationship between GCs and TCs. For example, Varosha can be opened or more check-points can be opened.
It would be nice to do these but again TRNC has no obligation to GCs whereas the RoC, claiming to be the sole legal government of the island, has all the obligation to TCs. See the difference now?
Piratis wrote:So I get the bare minimums too I guess, since they didn't give me any special privileges either.

Typical Piratis response. No, Piratis, you're getting much more than bare minimums. First, you're part of the majority that has been ruling the RoC for 40 years now. So you shouldn't have no fear of domination and you shouldn't worry about privileges. I'm sure you know you don't need privileges but you act like a fool just to prove your point.
Piratis wrote:Oh, and by the way, I also pay lots of taxes to get those "bare minimums", and those TCs get these "bare minimums" from my taxes also.

Ask Papadopoulos for your tax return then. He's the one benefitting the most from this.

metecyp which of the two is it?you claim that you want bi-communal and bi-zonality so when someone asks what should the t/c do to give benefits to the g/c you switch your position and claim that the g/c should not get anything because the claim to represent the whole govt.are the t/c a equal partner on the island or are they part of the roc?you cant have it both.

boulio, they want both.
They want to keep under occupation the 37% of Cyprus and at the same time share with a portion of 30% (+ vetos and all their other super privileges) the rest of Cyprus.

tcypriot, now apart from believing that there is a "Turkish Cypriot Nation" etc, you start to believe that you are the father of somebody that you don't know. Apparently you have some mental issues and you are unable to make a distinction between reality and your wishful imagination. The faster you get in touch with reality the better for you. A good psychiatrist might be the only solution at this critical level of your mental illness.

Enough of the personal bitchiness folks... if you want to slag each other off, do it through private message, that's not what the forum is for.

as an observer (okay i may be turkish but still)

t.c in this post say that TRNC does not claim to represent the whole island therefore it has no obligations for GCs.

on the other hand ROC claims to represent the whole island and claims to represent the TCs. however the way they operate unprove this. if ROC was operating like it should, there would be no problem today. (in the end it was formed together)

no. t.cs dont want both. what they want is: if you unite, they only want their powershare. if you dont want to unite, they are happy to continue with a free state of TRNC.

so to sum it up. a new United Cyprus or TRNC (or what the GCs say occupied north) is what the TCs want. Because there is no trust to ROC among the TCs anymore.

Am I right?

Thanks, efe, for the explanation. I think some forum members act like they don't understand what we say. The logic is simple. If the RoC exists and if it really represents the TCs, then it has to fulfill its obligations towards TCs. I don't mean free healthcare or IDs because these are just basics. I mean more important things like encouraging TC representation in the decision-making, having TC judges in the cours, having TC police in the RoC and things like that. In other words making the RoC bicommunal again.

Now, some GCs might say "What about TC obligations to the RoC? If they don't ask for the Turkish soldiers to leave, if they don't give up the TRNC, why should we care about their representation in the RoC?" Well, you (GCs) should care because you claim that the RoC represents both communities and you benefit from representing the whole island on your own. So you either take real steps to ask TCs to come back to the RoC or you stop claiming that the structure in the south is indeed the RoC. It's that simple.

As I said before, instead, all steps taken by Papadopoulos are steps to keep the structure in the south as it is. In other words, ask TCs to come back as a mere minority, just like 1000 TCs living in the south now. And giving ID cards or healthcare is the minimum price Papadopoulos is willing to pay for being able to claim that the structure in the south represents the TCs.

Metecyp, if this is what you want then WHY DON'T YOUR POLITICIANS DEMAND TO GAIN THEIR RIGHTS UNDER THE ROC? The TC parliament voted a few months ago to refuse to accept the existance of the RoC? Your argument is contradictory to say the least.
