In radical muslim countrys women have no choice; they are brainwashed from day one to beleive that they're second class.
Muslim womens dress is all about male vanity.

Women are equal to men in Islam but different. your knowledge is very little about islam. you may be talking about some people who are following tradition more then Islamic teachings

Women are given high status in Islam.

Is that why they are stoned in many Islamic countries because they had an out of marriage sexual encounter or were raped by men and hence were deemed to be adulterous?

Is that why you torture your women by forcing them to wear the Burqha?

Sorry mate, but Islam is just so out of touch with this modern world, as are all religions, but Islam takes the cake in terms of shear regression and human rights abuses.

Hi Oracle, I'm sure that these women who choose to wear traditional clothing will never make the arguments that can be made within Islamic reasoning against veiling, but some women do make a safer haven for women at risk of abuse and exploitation in the name of Islam. To Western woman it might not look like much because it's easier to see these grim figures in heavy shrouds as symbols of what's wrong rather then what's right with women and Islam.

By the way you are one of the most interesting people on this forum.

Be careful of sweeping statements Paphitis, because "human rights abuses" are not about being forced to wear weird clothing…

Your book of "moral ethics" should investigate the US, UK, and your beloved Australia, where you’ll find the REAL human rights abuses taking place, even as we preach…

I was not talking about the US/UK, but Australia's moral compass is just fine...

We Australians are pretty angry at the US approach which would see many civilians killed and classified as collateral damage as long as some Taliban terrorists were also neutralized. Australia is just not like that, nor can any War Crimes be proven against our Armed Forces.

I was talking about religion in general and the mass violations against Human Rights by various Islamic Nations and fundamentalist groups such as the Taliban...

I understand you are against the war on terror, but these few Islamic terrorists have left us with no other choice...

You need to study Dawkins and maybe you too will see the light and mobilise your intelligent brain against Islam and all religions in general.

This one is for you:

There is a clear and present danger!

The notion that we “intelligent ones” are “fixing the problem” by conducting a genocide against them, sends us and our theories back to stone age!

Who on earth said that?

You seem to think that the war in Afghanistan is some Christian Crusade.

I don't know what on earth gave you this idea, but for right or wrong, it is a war on terror and against a ruthless Taliban...

This discussion is about how Islam treat women as mere objects or slaves. Can you imaging your daughters living in such societies?

It is about women being treated with contempt, being stoned to death, gays being executed and public executions and beheadings. What does that have to do with the US/UK or Australia?

The US government funds anti-Muslim 'Education' trips to Israel...

The same can be said of September 11, so it is not as if the Taliban did not ask for it to begin with.

However we are digressing from the subject of this thread, which is about Muslim Women and the psychological torture inflicted on them, as well as the parallel Human Rights abuses inflicted on Muslim Societies in general.
