There are already so many rumours, Al-Qaida yes and no, suicide bombings yes and no, planned attacks yes and no, mobile phone network has been shut down yes and no. At this very moment noone even exactly knows what has happened.... not even the number of blasts is sure....

True, but there are to my knowledge none or very few domestic groups that would carry out attacks like this. We have a long history of IRA attacks in the UK and these were characterised by warnings to vacate the areas. They also did not routinely target purely civilian targets, which these attacks have. Even the Real IRA (a splinter group) shirked from civilian targets after the Omagh bombing which killed so many people.

It may not be a suicide bombing, all I'm saying is that it bears striking similarities to the damage you get from these kind of attacks in Israel.

The latest official number of blast reports are four, as announced by the Home Secretary Charles Clarke in the House of Commons about 1.5 hours ago.

The one thing that I will be stunned by is if the number of fatalities remains this low. BBC tv just showed new pictures from the bus blast site and the whole front of the British Medical Association building, outside which the bomb detonated, was absolutely plastered in blood... quite horrifying.

It's on days like this that I'm glad I no longer work in London. Had I done so, I might have got caught up in the Russell Square blast as that was on my route in.

The warning was posted on an islamist website that was claiming responsibility for London. You're right that they also posted warnings that Denmark and Italy should expect similar treatment.

I think what this will do is to make the ID card debate no longer an issue... this will be used to push through more stringent anti-terrorist legislation. Not quite sure what measures they could take to protect the underground network, but I think we'll see a lot of police sweeps in the next few days and weeks to root out islamic extremist groups in this country.

Hi Moose, I didn't write that to start an argument with you. ;) It was a mere general suggestion.

Apart from that I've also been reading (don't remember where, CNN, BBC, SKY...) that maybe there was a warning in advance about the attacks. Its been said to have come in from Israeli security....

Probably you've got the better info at the moment about the whole thing as I have no TV here in the office and can't manage to find a decent live-streaming. Or at least none that works. .-(

I know mate, sorry if I came back a bit combative, I'm just really angry that someone has done this. Fair enough if they want to try and bomb Downing Street or something, but they targetted average people, really soft targets and that really pisses me off. Chances are that they've also hurt people from all over the globe in these attacks, TV is saying that hospitals have had to bring in translators to deal with many of the patients.

If you're looking for a good live stream, the BBC site has streaming video, I'm connected to it right now and its fuzzy but streaming well.

Just spent a frantic morning phoning relatives and friends who work in Central London to see if they are ok.

Thankfully all are safe.

Past through almost every day at some of those stations.

Today was my day off and I didnt have to go into the heart of London.

I can imagine. I've spoken to some old work colleagues working near Hyde Park. They're unsure how some are going to get home - people live in Brighton, Reading etc. Thankfully all are fine.

Good thing is that the authorities have had control of this situation, people I've spoken to have said there's no sense of panic, just huge concern. As I said earlier, I would be absolutely stunned if the number of casualties remains at two.
