greek mess

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

According to one Australian commentator the Greek mess and a subsequent exit could have dire consequences for Cyprus too.

Will a decision made in Greece f..k up Cyprus again like it did in 1974?

“I've just flown in to London from Cyprus. The Cypriot banking system is umbilically linked to the Greek banking system. So, we're talking here not of one country leaving immediately, but two eurozone economies, because there's no way that Cyprus could withstand a Greek euro exit.”

Why will I be dissected? Have I made a mistake posting on this forum? :?

My dear boomerang, there is no reason for anyone to attack anyone. I am certain we all love Greece very much despite all the problems.

I have been told that some members here just hate Greece. I find it hard to believe that Cypriots hate Greece. Even if some of you do, I am sure that these sentiments are not reciprocated. I understand that Cyprus feels let down by Greece. The Greek people feel let down as well. Unfortunately, we have had Government after Government that lacs political will and practically destroyed our economy.

Also, let us remember that ever since Cyprus was invaded in 1974, Greece has been spending about 4-5% of GDP on Defence buying the latest and most sophisticated weapons systems. This translates to who knows how many Billions over the years. If Greece only spent half if our beloved neighbour ( ) was not as threatening to our sovereignty, then I bet there would hardly be a Greek Sovereign Debt or it would only be a fraction of what it is today.

So it is not all about corruption and nepotism. And our Governments, despite all this military spending lacked the political will to extract valuable resources in within our waters.

Hey, I don't think anyone is brainwashing you at all. Why would Greece do this? I support Cypriot independence and its territorial integrity. I consider Cyprus a very close sister nation.

I am glad you feel strongly about your Cypriotness. I don't have any issue at all.

But I as a Greek, love Cyprus and the people very much.

I don't know why you bring up the Junta. I was not even born then, and I would never support the Junta anyway. The Junta was very bad for Greece, and I am sure you are going to tell me that it was bad for Cyprus as well. I don't deny it and as a Greek I am really sorry for what they did even though I was not even born.

They did not act on behalf of all the Greek people either and I am not sure what you mean about the "Cyprus File". So please tone it down a little please, because Greece is not an enemy to Cyprus. Maybe Greece did wrong in 1974, but is it really 100% Greece's fault or mine? :?

I am not going to sit here and say that it was the Junta either. I now that would be insulting to you and I don't want to be rubbing any salt in wounds.

The sooner Cyprus is free the better. All Greeks feel the same way except for those that don't have Greece's or Cyprus' interests at heart.

She is slowly realizing that Greece has been unfairly singled out by purveyors of propaganda, like you. Greece is no more corrupt than other nations - but Greeks are by nature open to discussion and self-evaluation.

We just don't need more of your biased anti-Greek stuff (which harm Cyprus) flooding the Internet to join all that from Turkey - who wants to destroy/expand into Greek territories. Or is that just a comedy to you?

and what do you make of this:...warning, reading this will cause severe butt-hurt

Turks tell Greeks to "f++k off" because they want their place!

Greece is in ruins and the Turks just love it!

The Greek financial situation is reaching a climax and it seems that their arch rivals and ancient enemies, Turkey, are jumping into the ring.

A EC finance minister has already admitted; "The European Community and the Euro will be better off without the Greeks who love their ouzo too much!" And is seems that European leaders are gradually beginning to agree to let Greece slip gradually into the Aegean sea.

Their main rivals for a vacant place in the community is Turkey who just happen to be Greece's arch enemy and would love to see their western neighbours sink without a trace.

The Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, sent a message to his Greek counterpart and here is what it said: "F++k off infidel, don't come back and don't forget to give us Cyprus back because it's ours anyway, Greek orthodox Christians my butt!"

Angela Merkel & Sarkozy promptly agreed and now are planning to boot Greece out and welcome 74 million Turks in (at a price naturally and Turkey must also agree to stop torturing Kurdish & Greek Cypriot patriots).

Berlin, Kreuzberg; 06.02.2012: Thousands of jubilant "gastarbeiter" Turks were seen here today burning the Greek flag and singing the Turkish national anthem; Schadenfreude ist die grösste Freude!

i like this part...they even want to have mercy on you...the patriot...
