The mini war of “attrition”…
This war is probably going to turn into another war of “attrition” although a rather short one due to Israel’s small size, because Israel has made some miscalculations.
Although Israel is inflicting tons of damage on Iran with its superior air force it did not expect that Iranian missiles would be so (1) numerous, so (2) evasive and so (3) damaging!
Israel’s initial delusions of a swift and decisive victory thanks to superior technology are crumbling after seeing that Iran has literally devastated Israeli towns and cities with its ballistic missiles and causing far more damage than his F-35s can keep up with!
On top of that the costs of all those high tech jets engaged in long distance sorties will begin to pile up astronomically, whereas Iran’s mobile “fire & forget” launchers/missiles are way cheaper to run and just as deadly, if not deadlier!
Additionally, Israel’s miscalculation that Iran’s missiles would soon run out and that Israel would largely remain unscathed thanks to its super-duper air defenses, has quickly turned into a disaster because many Iranian missiles are penetrating the defenses and reaching their targets!
To make matters worse for Israel, at least two nations have announced full solidarity and support for Iran… meaning that even if Iran’s ballistic missiles were to run out in three weeks time it has now found good replenishment sources!
So under these unforeseen circumstances, the equation of this war has now become…
How long can tiny Israel last against a seemingly never-ending barrage of missiles every day?
Well, we’re on day 3 and Israel is already looking like Gaza so I really can’t see them going for three weeks, let alone three months!
With Iranian ballistic missiles landing in so many random places every day, Netanyahu may not even be able to return to Israel from Greece!
So which countries will be assisting Iran then?
Here’s my breakdown…
Pakistan – They have already expressed full solidarity with Iran as Muslim brothers so military assistance is almost guaranteed from here.
Russia – There’s a military partnership agreement between these two, but I have no details of what it covers. This one is a bit of a mystery as Russia is also busy with its own problems.
Turkey – It’s in Turkey’s interests to weaken Israel as much as possible to eject them from Syria, so it’s very possible they’ll assist Iran although secrecy will be paramount for them so as not to upset the West.
Iraq – This country is still too western-infiltrated and dirty to be a reliable partner to Iran… perhaps a liability even.
Afghanistan – They’ll want to help Iran but probably won’t have the means to. At most, Iranian top brass can move there for a few weeks to avoid becoming targets.
North Korea - They have already expressed full solidarity with Iran so military assistance is almost guaranteed from here, and they are a very good source for nasty ballistic missiles.
China – This one is a mystery. China doesn’t seem terribly concerned about the ME despite the condemnation of Israel.
My verdict:
Iran will receive or may already be receiving assistance from (1) Pakistan, (2) Turkey, and (3) North Korea.
