You're confused. Greeks only have one bronze... I think in wanking or something.

I don't think they can beat you.

I'd be in the Olympics too if I was any good!

Dont tell us you think its only for pee'ing over high walls.....

I am not very sure its so sad not to have gained any medals when we talk about small and/or impoverished countries like Bolivia and Cyprus, or countries in turmoil like Iraq and Syria and others like them, who do not afford to spend money and/or time for the promotion of athletics. Especially when such small and/or poor countries are compared to rich and/or powerful ones which have turned the promotion of sports and the improvement of the performances of their athletes into an industry (quite dirty at times too). For me, even the qualification to the Olympic games of athletes from small/poor/troubled countries is a commendable achievement to be attributed mainly, if not solely, to the athletes themselves and their own determination and their own efforts.

After all, isn't the spirit of the Olympic Games the getting together of the Nations of the World? Or isn't it?

here here Kimon- a very sound post - too much money is spent on sport - hence the corruption with in it. Rock on the jamaican Bob-sleigh team in the 1998 winter Olympics. True Olympic spirit by many.

Write-up on the achievement of PK at the London Games site...

" .... The 22-year-old has sailed exceptionally during the Games so far and saw a podium finish become a certainty on Day 8.
Kontides is guaranteed silver if he finishes the medal race and could even yet get gold if Australia's Tom Slingsby has a bad day on Monday.

'This is the greatest day of my life,' he said. 'I still don't believe what's happened.

'When I saw all the media and my compatriots celebrating then I understood my huge achievement...."

...i understand that when Kontides wins this metal, Cyprus will carry with it the honour of having the greatest number of metals per capita in the world.

Kyriakos Ioannou has just qualified for the final.
