CYPRUS IS STILL OCCUPIED

Postby lysi » Sat Nov 19, 2005 1:36 pm

We greek cypriots can make a difference if we stick together and keep complaining about the occupation of our land.
We can also confront those ESTATE AGENTS who sell our land and property, We can also complain to travel agents and newspapers who carry adverts for holidays to the occupied north of cyprus.
We can remind the world that the north of cyprus is occupied and that there is thousands of greek cypriot refugees waiting to go home.

WILL YOU USE YOUR VOICE ?

WILL YOU USE YOUR VOICE ?

Personally I can understand the frustration of Lysi.

You know what the problem is lysi? Too much good life. If we were like Palestinians and Kurds we would react much more dynamically.

Well I can understand her frustration too, but this is a discussion forum, not a campaigning forum after all.

Postby lysi » Sun Nov 20, 2005 2:48 pm

All i want is to see the greek cypriots get of there rich backsides and start to complain about the occupation and about are land being sold off by greedy estate agents.
But as usual the g/cypriots are all talk and no action, shall we sit by are computers talking to each other for another 31 years.

I want my land back so why dont you g/cypriots start to make some noise.

Lysi,

I am hearing rumours that the government in the North is thinking about changing the 159th article of their Constitution. This is the article which appropriates all GC owned land, and gives the North the right to use that land whatever purpose they chose, including giving it to people for money or points against land they left in the South.I hope this is the breakthrough we have been waiting for for some time. Some commentators believe the order has come from Turkey,to get them out of trouble with the European courts.GCs might soon be able to apply and get their properties back or compensation if they so chose.Lets keep our fingers crossed.

BIRKIBRISLI, The g/cypriots are all talk and no action, they cant even stick together and complain to those greedy estate agents who are selling of there land, what mugs we are.
Also the g/cypriots cant even complain to there useless government about the lack of action on the occupation.
No wonder the turks wont hand back even a field to the greeks.

my dear lysi let me give you a couple of personal stories.

when i was 1st year at highschool (that means 11? 12 ? doesnt matter) i went to an anti-occupation demonstartion .that was early 90s .at the time when some people, still cared. the demonstration was at the village of astromeritis. it was a demonstartion from the refuggees in the morhpou region.
anyway, with some other kids (dont know how many) we went through the lines of our policemen, and then a couple of UN lines. dont imagine anything violent. how can a kid 12 years old brake police lines? they either let us through, or the kids of the region new some other paths :). anyway we reached the turkish soldiers just outside the factory of pano zodeia. really close to my grandfathers village (which i didnt know at the time). they had guns and it was clear that there is no running towards them. the last UN line wouldnt let us through in any case. behind the turkish soldiers there were civilians. i dont know why.
i had the feeling that i freed my country enough. i took some soil from the ground, from the occupied regions to take it back. (not an original move as you may notice...most probably i read it in a book somewhere.)
returning back to astromeritis happy that i fullfilled my patriotic duty i was shot by the beautiful tsikna smell (smell of meat cooked on grill -the famous SOUVLA). the demonstration was a chance for some relatives to meet and eat souvla. my family included. i remember telling them :is that how you will free cyprus? (as if i just fought and had a couple of villages free). anyway, since then i never went to a demonstartion. never. and since then i cannot stand patriotic talks.
....
the students demonstrations on 15th november. i dont know how it is in nicosia. most probably the presense of the wire makes the students unite. in limassol i went for 7 years in a row. 9 out of 10 students were demonstarting in the local coffee shops or buying clothes. the ones who "cared", half of them went to the EDON place which is next to where the demonstration takes place to take their cyprus flags. the NEDYSI people had to walk a little more to bring their greek flags. never did they shout sth united. never did they say sth that had to do with the reason they protested.
just: I KYPROS EINAI ELLINIKI...and I KYPROS ANIKEI STO LAO TIS.

as a concequence, my dear lysi -just to save you from the trouble of copying-pasting your views in all threads- , it is in vain. take your pass go to the north and try to meet some people. at the time as human beings thats the best we can do.
