No wonder the turks wont hand back even a field to the greeks.

lysi,
Real estate agents are doing what they do best, selling real estate.
And the developers are doing what they do best, built houses, units, villas whatever. What needs to change is the whole situation, and that will only happen with a permanent solution. The people of Cyprus should be pushing their leaders and, in the case of TCs, the Turkish government to find a solution without delay. But the whole situation is far too complicated, and a lot of foreign interests are involved. You have the EU interests,Turkish interests,UK interests,USA interests,Russian interests, you name it...I personally believe that the spirit of the Cypriot people has been crushed by the events of the last 41 years.I don't think many people really believe there will ever be a solution, for most people the present state of affairs are all they know. They are very comfortable in their entrenched positions and, as cypezokyli mentioned in another thread just a few days ago, most people would not know what to do with themselves if there was no Cyprus problem to whinge about.
The whole situation can really get you down if you let it.
I used to think that with time it will be easier for the younger generations to put their prejudices aside and forge one nation out of this mess.
But I can see now that the majority of the young people (those under 30)
in Cyprus and elsewhere have no emotional investment in the whole problem, and most are too lazy to even debate the issues without falling back on their entrenched opinions.Let alone take direct action to change the situation.

less talk and more action

Postby lysi » Tue Nov 22, 2005 3:21 pm

Birkibrisli, a lot of young cypriots seem to have forgot the injustice of the occupation, but there will always be people like me who who will remind people that the north of cyprus is still occupied and that they should get of there rich backsides and do something about it.

This forum is just a talking shop, if g/cypriots feel that the occupation is wrong then they should complain to there government about the lack of movement on a settlement and also contact the greedy estate agents who are selling off stolen greek land and making things worse for a settlement.

i dont see how i insulted you lysi, but if i did i apologise.
i ll try to avoid insulting others as well.
i dont take offence. actually my last post was in effect agreeing with you on the non-action of the gcs. dont know if u actually read it. it is just me and you , on our direction towards a solution, follow different paths. you choose to call companies and embassies to complain, i prefer to talk with the "enemy".

ok cypezokyli, The cyprus government has been talking on & off to the occupation regime for 31 years and still the turks have not even given back a field.
The turks are making a fortune from property sales and also from those daft greeks who spend millions of pounds in the casinos and brothels in the north.
So what pressure are the turks under to reach a settlement, unless we g/cypriots stick together and use people power to get rid of the occupation. That means complaining and making a noise.
It worked in the soviet union, poland, ukraine ect.

Ok. Half of Europe and Eurasia....half of a small mediterean island.

Spot the harder geographical land mass that's harder to control politically, economically and socially using force and ideology.

Hate to rain on your parade (yet again lysi, oh unenlightened one) but your comparision is dreadful.

Think again.

I know enough to keep me ticking over...

by the way. 1/15th of an inch. That's the distance between your little finger and the CAPS LOCK button.

make the effort, or continue to sound like an overly irate moron.
