The funny thing is the newspapers this morning is that the GCs want to go back over convergences, this is a typical delay tactic the GCs always use, they were told off about wasting time during the AP negotiations and they still adopt the same old method today to stall or gain time. I still do not believe the GCs are sincere in wanting to compromise to find a solution, they want it their way and will not accept anything else...the rest is just hot air and show.

This is actually not true and the TC negotiator has shown his lack of seriousness in this process. He went out after the meeting to say that they went over the convergences again despite having agreed not to release anything to the press. The GC negotiator obviously rebutted this and called a pile of crap.

Where did he divuldge the content of the mettings, hes actually pointing the age old tactic of GCs at the negotiating table, when they want to stall and delay they go over old previously agreed ground. I know for certain they have in past meetings been repremanded by the EU representative for such insincere underhand tactics.

What do you think we are not compromising on please be specific, give exactly what makes you oppose a solution under a BBF?

A compromise from your side is to accept your minority status in a democracy and to return everything to its rightful owners and demand Turkey leaves, with her settlers.

Perfect summation.

And exactly where is the compromise of the GCs in the above? you appear a elam extremist, if you are then theres no need for us to debate, your views or not only rigid to a degree of nausia but you lack an understanding of the reality that 1974 changed Cyprus forever, there is no going back and the island will not be handed to you on a plate. You either share or you get jack shit...is that plain enough for you?

If you decide that yes I want to share this island and work for a better future for everyone than count me in but otherwise your views only make people like me say thank god we are divided and people like you are kept South of the border.

what do you want them to compromise?

Lets start with Tcs that settled after 1974? do you believe it right to send back children born here who are now 40 years old and do not know or want to go to Turkey?

Will you do the same with people WHO settled or were born in the South after 1974?

I compromise that we have a date for example 2000, up to this date everyone gets citizenship and those after get residency/work permits that can be revoked if and when necessary.

Yes, I think it is right, because their rights do not supersede the rights of Cypriots. This is a Turkish violation that should be rectified, by Turkey and they are not Cypriots VP, they are Turkish Nationals. This is the first thing. The second thing is that it throws a massive spanner in the works regarding the property issue. The third thing, in my opinion, is that the GC's see them as the embodiment of the Cyprus problem.

Its difficult to do that, if not impossible because Cyprus is now in the EU. Countries of these people are also granting the TC's rights to move and work in their respective home countries. The TC's have this right now, today and a lot of TC's do live abroad. GC's too, and the way I see it there is no need to devolve Cyprus's foreign relations with other countries.

I compromise that we have a date for example 2000, up to this date everyone gets citizenship and those after get residency/work permits that can be revoked if and when necessary.

This is not a compromise but WHY?

Maxi you have shown absolutely no sort of compromise here, illustrating clearly where the problems is and why the Cyprus issue has not been solved, we are talking about human beşngs their right to stay if they wish to do so of people who were born here, lived here all their lives, the date at which we draw the line is open to debate, even in the EU you cannot kick out people that have resided in your country for more than what is it 5 years, if you accept that all those the South has granted citizenship or born on the island after 1974 will be sent back to where they came from then I will accept the same. You cannot have one rule for TCs and another for GCs. Please do not mix right to citizenship with the property issue we will get to that if we get passed this problem.

The settlers are a big part of the problem which impacts other areas too. Its also very telling that you started with this issue and persist in supporting the rights of Turks over those of Cypriots, mainly the GC's.

First, this is Turkeys problem, created by Turkey and the TC leadership. Secondly you are now working to absolve from the responsibility, and thirdly, your solution is to drag Cyprus backwards as a consequence and at immense cost to the GC's.

What you are asking for here is to keep the stolen GC loot and possibly suggest a ridiculously low compensation to them later (who is going to pay? Turkey? ), while swamping them with Turkish nationals. Not good. It seems that you are after the profit on the stolen property while pretending to be a Cypriot..

its certainly a "compromising" proposition.

You are trying to warp the issue at hand by pushing property into the equation, you have to concentrate on the issue here. These people were born here and have their lives here many of them do not have anything to do with Turkey anymore, you clearly show no compromise, what negative effect will these people have on you and the GCs lives? Do you accept that we send back all the citizenships given to people in the South born or settled after 1974? If you do then no problem I accept the same, but I suspect you do not and want one rule for GCs and another for TCs...move forward the numbers are not that high and have already been absorbed into our culture, in a united prosperous Cyprus the next generations will develop even further....where is your humanistic gene? As for this subject being first it was purely random and not intentional. I have also stated that settlers after an agreed cut off year should not be citizens of a united Cyprus but should be given or refused residency according to the needs of the country as a whole. I can sense your hate for Turks and anything Turkish but your views are very extreme and not in line with wanting to find a solution.

You are too funny VP, but not someone to be trusted.

Turks have a track record and a long history of having a negative effect on the lives of Greeks.

Its happening now, as we speak, as we can see their negative effect. you are not mitigating the risks of negative things happening to them again either. you are trying to increase their exposure to Turks, in their own country and the risks. You expect them to pay for it as well.
