This was a Staffie apparently Repulse.
Out of character.

Pitbulls on the other hand , although being a 'terrier' breed are not uncommon for this sort of carnage.
They're bred for violence.
Maybe Milti got the breed wrong....

Statistically, could a Poodle, Dachshund etc be capable of that sort of damage?
They're also small/medium sized dogs remember.

Let's cut the bulsh** about the 'owner' always being at fault and start facing the truth that maybe selective breeding/ genetics might also have something to do with it.

Definitely a Staffordshire bull terrier, I know the breed well since my oldest niece has two.
A dogs character depends whether the dog is brought up as a pet or a status symbol by some owners.

I do not dislike this particular breed although this along with pit bull terriers are not my favourites. The Staff is a loving dog but in the hands of a wrong master can be vicious.

I will press charges and have this dangerous dog put down.

I agree that ultimately it's the owner that creates an unruly, vicious dog.

Any dog can end up having an aggressive side if abused - I've even seen a Labrador react aggressively to passers-by and I did witness the owner being really nasty with this dog sometime before this incident.

Cap, a Staffie is the shortened form for a Staffordshire Pitbull terrier and they are notoriously difficult to remove if they decide to attack - so not good around babies, for sure!

The karma comes from the use of the word "pet"... I was going to post earlier, before the incident you describe about this as it worried me... true love is not the same as the love between "owner and pet"... true love does not own... true love has no expectations... true love does not try to control... I was not so worried when you used the phrase "pet hates"... the two words juxtaposed should lead to a realisation that neither is correct... but "pet loves" is very worrying... unfortunately so many relationships these days are of that form... they are bound to end in divorce... ironically, I do not believe that the relationship you described began that way... but it became such a thing... too much pressure to form a family across continents lead to the death of a father at a young age... attempts to bridge that gap again more subtly were met with a lack of understanding... one cannot rebuild the past, but one can learn from it and innovate...

I know what Staffie means!
They're one of my favourite breeds.

Never in my years...
But yeah, I won't insult any of you by trying to disprove your claims.
It is what is.

But there's no way I'm gonna believe owners have the sole responsibility of a Pitbull's nature.
I'd be insulting science.
Documented historical experiments, even from the 80's proved without a shadow of doubt, aggressive mice bred with aggressive mice produced even more aggressive mice.
Selective breeding, free will was not a factor.
Can't bullsh** nature, sorry.

Tsukoui, 'pet hates' and 'pet loves' are figurative speech. They are idiomatic whereby the meaning of the phrase is more than that of the individual words.

It's a sheer coincidence that whilst Milty was discussing pet hates/loves, he got bitten by a dog (not necessarily a 'pet'). But let us not forget, man created dogs.

Cap, get off your high horse. No one is advocating aggressive dogs do not exist. Man created some varieties to be absolute reflections of man - unpredictable aggressors!

You're welcome. But, they are the responsibility of the owner. The dog's crime should be the owner's crime. Control the dog or don't keep one if you cannot control it. It's not the dog's fault.

The AMERICAN Staffordshire Pit Bull Terrier is renowned for it's aggression toward other dogs.
Malty is lucky to have only been bitten, he could have been killed.
The AMERICAN people are renowned for their aggression toward other people.
He tried to save his dog and that was a mistake, when the Yanks go for the kill nobody is safe.
