They have never had the balls to fight Greece.

They only start wars they know they will win. A war with Greece is too much of a gamble for them because Greece is no pushover. Take a look at their military. They can hold their own.

in 74 they mobilised and moved troops to trakya, and then what happened. why did they not do us a favour and sort out terggy then. what is the difference between then and now.

The question should be why Turkey didn't sort Greece out? Even at Imia you landed troops but then had to leave with your tail between your legs because Greece was about to turn the joint into glass at first light. And one of the extraction helicopters was shot down too but Turkey said it was due to mechanical failure to save face.

I don't think Greece is into a major adventure but at the same time, Turkey could be up shit creek if it goes on an adventure in the Aegean.

It is after all a Greek pond and their military is in control and has the upper hand in my opinion.

quite the reverse musti. the new cyprus will be almost demilitarised. a token gesture of an army. it makes total sense. there is no way cyprus can defend herself against anybody so why bother to waste money for an army. wasted money, better spent on education and health.

No it does not make any sense at all.

They will not be demilitarized and have the right of defence even under the old Zurich Agreement. It's not just about defending yourself from invasion. A military has a much greater role than this from Border Security to Counter Terrorism.

You're argument is pretty silly. You could argue that if invaded, Australia can't defend itself. But it doesn't stop them from having a military. Malta has one too.

I have said this many times already, so hear goes one more time. The best security the TCs can have in EU Cyprus is, True Democracy, Human Rights, Rule of Law, EU Principles, Equal Cypriot Citizenship and International Law. Unless the TCs accept and embrace the above principles, they can never feel safe, because, if the TCs want to take away others rights so that they can have more, soon or later, 1963 will happen all over again. The ball for Cyprus peace really is in the TCs corner.
