The boy I have just st found out was actually Kurdis from Kobani.

The father had his teeth removed by Assad loyalists years ago because of the father's involvement with Kurdish Rebels. The family only fled Kobani in September last year just before the Kobani siege.

They were seeking a better life in Western Europe. They did not have documents and were in fact Stateless hence the inability to lodge applications for a Canadian Protection Visa.
